When we purchased our new’23 Tacoma TRD the dealer put an app on my iPhone so I can monitor my truck. I did some digging into the app on my phone to find that it was monitoring, storing my driving habits. I am not a fan of this info. My question, is more being monitored? Actually, what all is being monitored and is this being forwarded to another party? MTG

Your cellphone monitors everything anyway. You can talk about something and it shows up on Amazon 20 minutes later.

Hey OP, there will be a chorus of voices on this message board who will make fun of anyone concerned about Toyota's data collection. Ignore them. Maintaining as much privacy as possible is everyone's right (my opinion: instead of saying "hur dur your cell phone collects it all anyway," it would be better if we were forcing our governments to ban corporate data collection. But that is neither here nor there).

You can opt out of Toyota's connected services in the app or by pressing the SOS button on the rear view vizor and initiating a phone conversation with Toyota customer service. If you want a more "sure" method, you can pull the DCM fuse in your truck to completely disable the connected services. Unfortunately, the right tweeter and blue tooth also run through that fuse and you will lose them too. I do not know if anyone has found a workaround for this.
