    Hey everyone-

This is my first post on this forum. I used to post over on Tacoma Territory, but I guess that forum isn't active anymore because I can't seem to pull it up.

At any rate, I am thinking about buying a newer Tacoma and wanted to get an idea of how much my '97 Tacoma is worth. I was doing some research on Edmunds, Autotrader, and Ebay and have seen a huge variation in prices.

I am curious what do you guys think I would be able to get for my truck in a private sale?

I don't have a lot of pics, but some of the details are:
    1997
    4X4
    Manual
    2.7L 4 cylinder
    125,000 miles
    ProComp 6" lift
    Sway-A-Way Coilovers
    Deaver rear springs
    TJM Winch Bumper
    BFG mudders

~5,500 but that is to someone who doesn't mind the fact that it already has an irreversible drop bracket 6in lift. Other than that it looks very clean. Is it re-geared for those tires?

I would say it is at least $5k, maybe $6k worth if you find the right buyer - some people are looking for something specific, and if this is it they will jump on it. Out a little east from where I live are a lot of rednecks and they will never drive anything that is not lifted. (I don't mean anything bad when I say that - I like rednecks, and would easily fit in with them).
A dealer will probably not give you any more than $3k for a trade in, so private sale is definately the only option.

Thanks everyone for all of the responses! That was quick.

It might be time to clean it up a little and put a sale sign on it. Or do you think I should go for a bigger audience like on Autotrader or Ebay?

I'm willing to take a little hit in order to save myself a headache.

I would use autotrader, my dad had some decent experience buying and selling vehicles. You may also have more serious buyers on autotrader. I would throw it up on Craigslist too...but lots of lowballers on there.

craigslist it and take no less than 5k for it. I would start it out at 6k and let them lowball.

I don't think now is a good time to start parting it out, but thank you for the offer. I am really sorry I can't help you.

Yes, that is an aluminum spacer. It is part of the ProComp 4" kit. The SAS coilovers give it an additional 2.5", so a total of 6 1/2" of lift. Blocks and Deaver springs are in the back.

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
Around here that truck would sell for about $5,000-5,500. I'd list it for $6,200.
    Take no less then $5,200.

    Northern California.

Thanks again to everyone for the suggestions. This is a VERY active forum. I'm impressed!

(I have since moved on to a bigger boat, but I ran around the salt marsh in that little coffin being pushed by a 15HP Honda four stroke. Fun little setup.)

Like i said i sold my Stock 98 with 171k on the odo for 5,500. Put it on craigslist for free and put 6k firm. You will sell it within a few days.
Dont pay autotrader, local paper or ebay to sell something that will sell itself.
