This is my first post, i usually find what i need to know without having to post on here, but i came across a arb bumper for good price, i have a lift but even though i have no problems with it, its a spacer. so good reason to get some coils for bumper. main problem i have is that i am not putting winch on, just the arb bumper. should i get 885 w/top plate spacer and be close to 3 or just get 886? sorry if its question asked a lot just need opinion.

886s, even without a winch it's heavy as hell.

IMHO I would be nervous w/ the weight of the ARB bumper with a plate spacer..i would recommend upgrading shocks and coils.. 886 are going to be a little stiff if you don't have a winch..

I think 886s would be perfect with the weight of the ARB alone, IIRC it's about 160 pounds. I had about 170 pounds (winch & bumper combo) and the ride was fine and gave me about 2.75" of lift. Add sliders, skids and a winch and I still had about 2.5" of lift before swapping to Kings.

You should also upgrade to OME shocks, since the stock Bilsteins (or even 5100s) don't enough damping for the higher weight and stiffer spring rate.

yeah i will get 886. i already have 5100s. i talked to 2 different people on websites that sale them and ome and they said 5100 would work fine with 885 or 886. i don't off road really at all just some when times are right. i might get winch just not anytime soon in the future. just needed opinions before i got em. 886 seem more common sense now that if ever did get winch i would need them.

even with a winch is still stiff. i would make sure you had the steel rope on your winch + budbuild front skidplate + a hilift mounted on the bumper.:D

so maybe i should get 885 and just like 10 mm top spacer if i just have bumper on no winch or anything else. if 885 are meant for 110lbs 30 or so more pounds can't sag it much? and wouldn't be as stiff

Trial and error if you want. I've run 885s with a bumper and winch, and 886s with a bumper and winch. The ride was a little stiffer with the 886s but not by much and there were no sagging issues, as with the 885s I sagged about 3/4" with a bumper and winch combo (170 pounds). You also said you might want to add a winch later, add 75 pounds on top of your 160 that's 235 pounds on coils rated for 110 pounds.

A stiff spring will always be stiff regardless of how much weight is on there. ;) The weight just changes the ride height.

    http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/tech_OME_coils.html

The 883, 884 and 885 springs are the same 590 lb/in but have increasing lengths. Higher-numbered spring will sit higher if weight is equal. If more weight is put in the front, the higher-numbered spring sags less.

The 886 springs are 660 lb/in, similar to what's offered on 2.5" coilovers like Icon and King. My Icons are stiff on pavement, transmitting every pavement crack and expansion joint, but there's less body roll in turns and far less dive in panic-braking situations. Depending on the pavement texture, I sometimes get a "pogo" behavior below 25 mph.
