Hey guys, I'm gonna wire up a dual compressor soon. The way the compressor is wired, there is a separate power and ground for each of the two motors. A total or two power wires and two ground wires. The two grounds (~10ga) are combined into a single larger wire (~6ga) about a foot or two from the compressor. This will run to the battery negative. The power wires (~10ga) each run to a large 40A Maxi fuse holder and continue on to the battery positive, two separate wires all the way.

So would it be acceptable to combine the power wires after the fuses? That is, the wires from the compressor to the fuse holders will be separate but from the fuse holders to the battery, the two power wires will be combined into one larger (6ga) wire.

This way each motor still has its own fuse protection and a single 6ga wire can easily carry the max draw of the compressor (56A).

I know it's not really necessary but I think it will make a cleaner install.

    Sound OK?

So the start up draw on each compressor is 56 amps or is that for both ??

Will it be possible for both compressors to start at the same time ??

Just make sure all the extra connections are good and tight
