When my 2013 Ford SHO turned out to be a lemon, and Ford made it clear they'd fight me every step rather than fix it or buy it back, I just dumped the car for a loss and called it a day. I have better things to do than spend a year fighting a court battle over a couple of grand, with a 50/50 chance I'll come out on top. Time and effort = money IMO.

No, maybe I didn't explain that correctly. we put some money down, have made 5 or 6 (gotta check for sure) payments so far.. so that alone is $4k. attempted several fixes, plus gas to and from dealer, mechanics etc. (we live 100+ round trip miles from dealer) and time taken off work, having to drive a second vehicle in order to drop it off and still have wheels during the day..

Our best trade offer has been $23K ($3k below actual invoice is what I was told). The payoff is a few pennies shy of $30K. so $7K to pay it off.

$4k into it (not even counting probably $2k in failed fixes, fuel and time off work) plus $7K payoff.. your looking at $11K. go ahead and kick in the other $2K and we have $13K. Yeah, I should have just said f' it and not touched anything or attempted to fix the problem with the truck, but I really wanted this to end well. Anyway, here we are... I can't accept that @#$ F@#$ing

The success rate of LL claims when a law firm is involved (not arbitration), aprox 97%. What my cost will be depends on whether or not the case is settled out of court or by jury. Out of court, the manufacturer is not liable for attorney fees, my burden. Jury trial, everything should be covered, possible damages beyond the buyback and attorney fees. If we lose, no cost to me. I should hear back from them tomorrow. I would still be money ahead paying an attorney a couple grand if they mange to force the manufacturer to buy the truck back. Not that I coulnd't use that money to put towards a 4 wheeler, but it's better than spending $11k+ to get out of it.. and I am winning  yeah, right..

Like I said multiple times, best of luck to you. You're right that at this point you have almost no choice but to follow through with you suit and hope for the best outcome. 11 K vs 1-2 K plus maybe 4 K is an easy choice.

Just for kicks, if I'm getting this right, your 2WD cost you 32K out the door? If that's the case you started with a bit of a problem. That's a lot of money for a 2wd. I paid ~ 36 K CAD out the door for my TRD Sport in Canada. If you really did pay that much that Toyota dealer was ass raping you from the get go.

Even with a negative equity on a trade! ouch! I don't think I have ever had a negative equity on a trade. I guess they just add the pay off onto the new vehicle price.

Damn why would anybody do that?

Thank you.. And as far as the OTD price, I didn't pull the sales agreement, but it was less than $31K. There was gap ins and something else on there.. but yeah, no deals were had.

Goodluck man. Hope you get what you want. I have ridden in some vibrating old trucks before. Trucks dont ride like cars. My 2014 truck vibes pretty bad. But its the tires, exhaust, sound system, swingout shake, roof rack, and hard throttle. I like it.

Would have to disagree. Owned a 4x4 Silverado for the past 11 years, and it drove perfectly...different wheels, different tires, and always smooth. Of course, my '14 Tacoma drives just as well. :)

And don't forget tax, it's not like you're going to get that back.

Out the door usually means taxes in. The OP is in a corner with one chance out. If all goes well he may of gone through a shit hole and smell slightly closer to daisies out on the other side.

I wasn't trying to call him out or anything on the price he paid. I'm pointing out that in his haste to get into this monster he may of paid well over the average price I see on here for his truck for USD. It helps me to understand how this truck has put him in such a huge financial hole over just one issue that the Lemon Law is his last chance.

Thanks dude. I have had lifted vehicles before.. I was in the process of tricking out a 93 Grand Cherokee when we lived in Vegas. I had a few engine mods, throttle body mod, Borla header, gibson SS exhaust, Rubicon Express 4.5" lift, sway bar disconnects BF mud terrains etc. I was ok with the vibration, cause it was strictly for low speed transportation and going out to the desert, Lake Mead, Red Rock. It was a lot of work and a lot of money, next mods on the list were slip yoke eliminator and axles with lockers. Instead, I was rear ended by a cop at Desert Inn and Eastern. They tried rebuilding it, but it's never right after replacing sections of the sub frame.

    Anyway.. thanks again.

Well, after contacting just about every law firm in our area (prob 30+) and several online services that contract or refer cases... I think we found one willing to fight T. In fact, the person reviewing my paperwork just accepted another case just like our yesterday, high speed vibration, three attempts to fix it and the dealer calls normal.
Most firms are not interested in LL cases at all, some say they'll have an attorney call us back.. couple days later we call them back and get the same story. One of the firms I spoke with in Illinois decided as a company to no longer accept LL against Toyota. She told me Toyota fights tooth and nail, drags every step of the process out and makes it unprofitable for them and a major drawn out PITA for the owners.

What kind of vibe or you talking about. Like a slight vibe or shaking wheel/ truck vibe. If your talking tiny vibe. Id just live with it/ trade it off or sale it. What your getting ready to go through is going to be a huge pain. It is a truck if ride was such a big deal get a car next time or maybe a Honda ridgeline car truck thing.

I had the exact same issue with my 2012 Tacoma. I bought the truck in Dallas and drove it back to Clarksville, TN. I noticed on the ride home I started having the same issue. Started to vibrate around 50mph or so, dissipated around 60mph, and then back on around 70mph. I took it to the dealership in Clarksville 6 or 7 times. Same process...balanced tires, realignment, balanced driveshafts, replaced steering hardware, etc. The problem still existed after all this. I contacted Toyota and started discussing having my truck bought back from Toyota. As soon as I contacted Toyota, I noticed the dealership having a much worse attitude with me about it (almost as if Toyota contacted them directly.)

Long story short, I fought and fought with the dealership to no avail. I ended up selling it and buying a car. I owned multiple Tacomas in my life before this and never had a problem with them. I was very surprised at how I was treated in this process.

Good luck with your arbitration an!d hope you get it fixed!

I don't understand some of the hate in this thread….I bet if this was others Vehicle you would be at the front of the line to get this resolved.

I know the battles with auto manufactures as I just went through a 5 month battle royal with Ford on an 13 Escape. I pinned them to the mat and received everything I paid for down payment and a year of payments..

I then went and bought my 14 DCOR Tacoma I am having my battles with them now as well…Not much of a drive line vibration but the steering wheel shakes @ 65 mph like a leaf on a tree in a storm.

Thanks, and sorry you had to go through that BS too. The corp office did contact the dealer in our case.. the arbitration was a joke. It sounds like more people are getting fed up with that BS line "it rides like a truck" ""it's normal" "it's a characteristic of the vehicle" I've owned trucks before, non of them had a vibration issue like this Tacoma. Ours has the mid speed (40+) and high speed (70+) and after the TSB installed a week ago, it's vibrates at low speed too!
