It wasn't contained in any link, it was a fix I came up with myself, I just applied some common sense from my racing days and it worked...

Like I said, I have previously posted on other 'driveline vibration' threads my fix...

Don't get your panties all bunched up over this, once Ken does the fix, we plan on coming back and posting his results, okay...I just got off the phone with him...

Yup, talked to Dennis in depth about the vibration issue. I will try to get the carrier/drive-shaft center support bearing mod done tomorrow and give it a drive test a few days later. Test results will follow. Nothing would make me more happier than to tell everybody the vibration is gone, especially the lawyer.

You got your panties all bunched up, I told you not to do that, LOL...

How do you think I feel when I post up the solution in other threads and no one responds or even tries what I posted?...

Just wait a couple of days and there will be a report....Ken is not the only one I am guiding with this fix right now...

Ken, your location says Tullhoma, TN, but when we talked, you said you were in SoCal, I thought you were close by me, funny, you thought the same thing because my cell had a Northern California area code....good luck with the fix, very anxious to hear your results...

Dennis, I was born in SoCal and lived in the Bay Area for several years. We moved (several stops along the way) to Tullahoma, TN last year.. We love it out here..

I think you need to post a video showing the vibration. Can it be deemed a danger?

will it lead to mechanical failure in your transmission, driveline, power steering, etc?

I have a 2011 and have no vibration since the dealer replaced the rotors and brakes.

When they tried the 17" wheels and tires, apparently they tried the rotors too. I swapped sides with them as well, same exact vibe.

Need a truck, just didn't want the excessive vibration, especially from a brand new $30k Toyota. I have driven high mileage vehicles, I expect some rattles, squeaks and vibrations. Currently I'm driving a Chevy express as my company vehicle. It has 170,000+ miles, yeah it vibrates a little, but not as much as the 2014 Tacoma with less than 2k miles.

One of the main problems seem to be the carrier bearing mount making the 2 piece drive shaft out of balance.

I've heard people say a one piece drive shaft will solve the issue, but I have no personal experience regarding such. Makes sense though.

I talked to another dealer regarding this matter, if the drive shaft was modified (cut, re-welded etc) then the drive shaft is no longer under warranty, the rest of the vehicle still is. If the u joints were replaced, the DS still under warranty.

A brand new, unmodified, vehicle shouldn't vibrate. Or shake or wiggle. At any speed. Period. I may not be ancient but have been driving since 1978 and have never had a vehicle vibrate (and I have owned a LOT of vehicles) unless I caused it or it had bad tires.

I have read that too. I talked with a DS specialist in Texas or AZ a couple months ago about building one. He said they have built a number of DS with double cardan joints and have had good success. When I proposed this to the dealer in Franklin, TN. he told me the Toyota engineers have been trying to fix this issue for over 2 years, they have replaced every driveline component, if they cant fix it, what makes you think you can fix it in your driveway? Not very encouraging, wish he would have emailed THAT comment to me!

Go to the dealer and speak with the owner, vice president, sales manager, service manager, and whomever else and offer each of them the opportunity to make it right depending on what you want out of the deal. A refund, a new truck, a new car of equal value, or whatever. Give them a 2 week deadline. If they do not come through make yourself a big ol' sign stating that you got screwed by the dealer and Toyota and stand outside of the dealership on public property.

There was a guy here in Milwaukee who had his car decaled up stating that one of the local dealers bodyshops screwed his car up and wouldn't make it right.
