In early April I had the opportunity to do some wheeling and camping with my good friends Ben @m3bassman and Dan and Christine @drr

Here is the story (sort of) and lots of photographs of these beautiful places.

For this trip, we were all coming from different directions and planned to meet up at a campsite just outside of Arches NP. My own adventure started with a quick detour to Las Vegas. It's sort of on the way isn't it?

My first night was in a dusty little campsite on a small lake near Susanville, Ca.

After taking care of business in Vegas, I found spot to camp in the hills above the city of lights.

I suspect this is a view of Las Vegas that most never get to see.

We arrived at the meet-up spot shortly before sunset, to find Mike @Digiratus enjoying the view from the canyon edge. Hard to beat, with Delicate Arch in the foreground and the La Sal mountains in the background.

We set up camp as the sun went down.

Not a recommended camp site for sleep walkers.

We watched a line of hikers going up to Delicate Arch in the dark, likely to capture star photographs during the clear and moonless night. I expected the Arch to be lit up by the early morning sunlight, however the orientation and location behind other formations meant that light didn't even hit it until later in the morning. Still a great sunrise view.
