It will rub your paint raw on your cab. At least it did on an old truck I use to have.

I use a small bicycle inner tube to put between cab and cap when I camp. It just covers the glass.I have a rod holder and 9' rods, fly rods, so if it rains ,truck stays dry.

I have both 2pc,and4pc,to much money to leave on the out side of the truck unlocked. Plus I can leave a rod rigged if I want to move to a different spot. They have some nice lockable exterior ones but they are pricey.

I have an ARE cap and have never had a problem snow buildup between the two.
They do make a clear donut type seal that goes between the cab & cap glass that you blow up with your mouth to seal the two if you want to have the sliders open when driving, like a pet in the rear so they don't get gassed or too hot.
