Are Joying headunits any good?

Has anybody had any experience with this head unit? https://www.amazon.com/JOYING-Compatible-Bluetooth-Navigation-Multimedia/dp/B08KD68BZT?th=1

I can't find any other head units that look factory in the Tacomas like this one. This head unit has exactly everything I'm looking for. Looks sweet in the dash, has a big screen, carplay, phone mirroring, etc. but I'm just hesitant about the Joying brand. I worry it could be cheap Chinese garbage and I'm sure the Chinese government does some sketchiness with all your data you run through it lolol. If only Pioneer, Kenwood, or sony made a unit that looked this good in the Tacoma dash.

Pick something from Kenwood or Pioneer. I'd go with Kenwood as the pre amp voltage and rms ratings are usually higher.

Thats the problem. Everything from Pioneer or Kenwood looks like it was designed in the 90s and requires those terrible looking adapter plates that go around the screen. I'm not trying to make my truck look like a highschoolers handme down that he took to radioshack.

Just get that obnoxiously huge one that replaces the climate controls!
But seriously there’s a ton of units that look great installed and some can even keep most of the stock features like changing center console display.

Where do you think Pioneer is built. Xm tuner on your truck assembled in China.
As far as Joying, works fine, no quality issue.

Kenwood and Pioneer make nice ones, but the you'll pay extra for the fancy screen. Focus on features. You listen with your ears and drive with your eyes.

I have been using a joying unit for about 3 years. Not the best but I would buy again. One look, wireless CarPlay. All I need.

about two months the unit blew a capacitor and I emailed company and they told me what to do. Bought a soldering kit on Amazon, replaced capacitor and voila! Up and running again.

    would buy again.

I had the Joying 10.5 unit (or 10.1, the one without the volume knob) in my Gen2. It was okay. Every once in a while it would reset as if it was unplugged. I would have to reset the date, time, and all radio preset stations. The radio tuner wasn't as strong as your more traditional name brand units. I didn't use any of the features I thought I would when I bought it. I didnt download apps, didn't upload mp3s, or other multimedia files, etc. I couldn't get the ODB2 port adapter to work with the gadgets in the main display of the joying 'home' display. I also didn't bother with installation of the included backup camera, etc., I left the stock rear view camera display in the mirror. Mapping that to the joying caused resolution issues with the joying.

I pulled it out a few weeks ago when I gifted the truck to my 16 year old son. I replaced it with a Sony AV8100 (or whatever model it is). I didn't want him to have to deal with resetting the stations/clock/etc.

The Joying unit fit great in the dashboard, way better than the Sony. The joying display looked great. Wiring it up was straight forward, install was plug and play. Steering wheel controls worked flawless once programmed (those oddly enough never 'reset' when the radio would reset itself). The bezel would rattle a bit but some strategically applied black rtv on the back of the bezel cured that. I upgraded all the speakers at the same time and it sounded great. Wireless Android Auto was intermittent. I usually defaulted to plugging into the USB.

If you like to tinker and upload apps/files (multimedia/mp3s) you may totally dig it. There are tons of programmable options you could play with. I just never used the extra features and found the tuner issues really annoying. My Gen3 has the JBL Premium set up and won't be messing with that head unit.

Ʌ THIS right here is why I suffer with the factory head unit and have upgraded everything else but. Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX is nice but would be better with a dial. I'm honestly surprised that no major manufacturer offers a flush mount factory replacement headunit for the Tacoma. Even the top of the line Alpine just looks like an iPad that somebody duct taped to the dash.

Bit late here - but I've owned 2 Joying HUs. Neither lasted longer than 6mo or so and their support was "always being there for me", which it turns out was translated from "You're on your own". Can't recommend.
That said, I did have great luck with this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B3T59TX?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
The wireless Android Auto worked like a charm. It's worth mentioning that I only used it in my '08 about a month before I traded that truck in for '22.

They should westernize the name and call it Most Bestest.

    Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX.

Fits perfectly in the 2020+ factory opening with no dash kit.

The Stinger is okay too, but why pay that much money for something that doesn't have wireless AA/Carplay and loses the ability to change a bunch of vehicle settings? Easy choice for me to go with the Pioneer.
