I'm not scared to ride, but choose not to.I parked my bike the day i found out my wife had a bun in the oven.I loved riding more than anything but don't miss it one bit.to look at my angel every day is priceless.jersey is a dangerous place to ride.respect the bike and what it can do to you and you should be fine.

Maybe scared isn't the right word. aware of the consequences of my actions.

You get scared you lock up. Cruise into guardrails on diminishing radius turns because you won't lean more and try to stop mid turn. Got to keep your wits about you.

I don't know if it goes for anyone else, but when I'm doing anything with risk, I see the outcomes in the movie theatre of my mind. Fingers on the floor when using the circular saw, smashed on the rocks when climbing, getting my head run over after having my femur smashed on a road sign from dumping my bike.

    Keeps me centered.

I'm scared of all the sand they dump on the road over the winter. But I still ride anyway. Weather has been warm past couple of days so the bike has been out!

sorry, not to mean to sound like a dick, but it just aggrivates me to see people think there too macho to gear up. When your the operator and you have a passanger you take there life in your hands. Id hate to see your pretty little girlfriend all road rashed and burned up to be permantly scarred.

I joined a motorcycle forum when I got my bike, and I read some of the stories of people walking away from a crash that was fully geared(one guy put up pics of his worn gear) and if he wouldnt have worn that, he'd be missing half his jaw and most of his skin, not to mention he had his wife on the back and she was equally geared up.

I would be more worried if I wasn't scared.
It's weird, I don't even worry about other drivers that much anymore (admitted I don't live in very over populated area). Sure they are still idiots but if you pay close enough attention you can avoid a lot of problems. [disclaimer: I am not saying that anyone here or elsewhere has not been paying attention when they got in an accident, just saying I think I have been lucky enough to avoid some that have come my way]
The main thing that worries me are animals. The closest I have come to dumping it was having a dog run out of the ditch at 5 oclock in the morning. Scared the ever loving p*ss out of me.

Maybe its just New Jersey... seems like a lot of people who have hung up there riding days live in NJ. I'm guessing its just all the shitty drivers there...

Like I said Monterey CA is super motorcycle friendly... I'm sure the accidents caused by other drivers is significantly lower here.
