    I disagree completely.

I was sitting much closer to the back tire, leaning way back and reaching for the handlebars, the bike is long, and when counter steering I couldn't get the hang of it on the cruiser.

sport bike riding position is so much different, and from the small amount of time I have spent on them, it's much more to my liking.

I'm sure there are a ton of people out there who can ride a cruiser, or harley or something better than I'll be able to ride any bike right now, but regardless, I feel more comfortable on a sport bike for the riding position. Being uncomfortable on the bike is a major safety issue as well.

Edit: I also used my honda shadow for my skills test, and did fine, but that's a parking lot, no traffic, and slow speeds, much different than real world riding.

right around 3500 the f4i is such a fun bike too. tough as nails so dropping it wont damage much other than cosmetics. tons of low end for a 600 and very reliable and good on gas... i had one. upgraded to the cbr 929 also a good bike. maybe not for a newb. sv650 is also a good one to start out on. very similar to the ninja650r (suzuki competitor) The ninja650r came out in 05 you can get them for around 3500 as well. I personally would not get one. It is a monoshock and is on one side so you really have to maintain the swingarm bearings or the handling will go out the window and become dangerous to ride.

r6 is a good one but id go for 04 or newer so you get FI. 06 and newer r6 is a track bike not the best for the street 06 and newer r6s is a good bike.

You can get an 07-08 for close to that price... New they are only like $6800... I saw an 08 on craigslist for $4500 recently in my area.

an 2002 CBR 600... probably around $3-$4 K depending on condition... might have a hard time finding one in good condition though

thats like saying a geo metro handles better than a wrx sti because its easier to manage in a parking lot. (no offense)

the rake on a cruiser is tough in the corners. you pick a line and its not easy to change it. With a more agressive rake like a gsxr or ninja it does not handle well on the lot but get in the twisties and its night/day different. you can be leaned over and if the corner suddenly gets sharper its easy to dig right in. not like a shadow. Like i said you pick a line, your stuck in it.

I don't agree but you do have to be comfortable. If you haven't adjusted the bike to fit you, should you be overly short, or put on modified bars or something. It pretty much goes, a bike's a bike. You get fatter tires and better suspension on the sport bike for smooth roads. But your description made it sound like you couldn't get around a curve. If you're overrunning the curves on american roads, you're in need of a refresher. Even if you're riding a chopper.

some of the tightest twisties are in the states. sterring geometry plays a much bigger part then fat tires and better suspension. also, be careful with the front brakes on the twisties itll get your line off in a hurry.

No, I over ran the corner because I wasn't comfortable on the bike, simple as that.

    "A bike's a bike" ?????
so your staying that riding a stock harley night train is just like riding a stock gsxr 750? I sure hope not.

i loved mine. All the new bikes are so "track oriented" because its what people want and like the looks of. Everyone looks at the track times rather than real world. the f4i is one of the torquiest 600s and are very comfortable. great around town and will still shit and 'git. realiable is an understatment and there is plenty of aftermarket support.

Make a good stunt bike because the frame and forks are so tough. and they are torquey. kawisaki 636 is a great bike too. but not as reliable. has tranny issues in some of the model years

Well, I'll have to stay in my disagreement. Of course you'll have different tires and different friction reserves and better brakes. But you shouldn't have trouble on american roads keeping ahead of cars. Unless they're racing. Your rake is just the muscle to pull you over really.

I guess the quote "trying to drive a couch" kind of is true. It takes more muscle. But you'll get there. I didn't read his quote well. I saw "drove off a corner" and maybe got ahead of myself. Regardless, in that situation. A sport bike would NOT have helped what-so-ever. Overshooting is overshooting. Out of the game is out of the game. In my imagination I see a sport bike going faster and flipping with a shadow kind of barreling down a bank and tossing the rider.

well it isn't a sport bike in the traditional sense though... so it is less "aggressive"

    here are some aggressive Ninjas

Don't care for the stock exhaust on those. The rest of the bike looks good though.

how do you figure a sport bike would not be any different?

being uncomfortable on the cruiser is the reason I didn't make it through the corner, do you understand that!?!?!!!?!?!
I am not used to it, and therefore am no good at riding it, had I been on a bike that had a riding style that I was comfortable with, I would not have had an issue, I was the one riding the fucking bike, and I've ridden lots of other bike's, more than enough to know that it's the bike that's not right for me!
