Cool. I suspect we'll have cell phone reception as we hit the 10 freeway. I'll shoot you a call at that time. Feel free to try and call any time though as we may have reception. The verizon map for the trail looks decent as far as coverage.

If you haven't already, the first step is getting your GMRS FCC license...

Should be good to go for that one...

    IE <shudder>

That's likely the issue...might take a while to propagate through all those Apollo 13 era systems

Seriously, just realized I dont even have IE because my parallels machine is new enough that it uses Microsoft "Edge" which I guess is the latest MS browser. Eww. Hopefully my account gets figured out in time for this weekend ha.

If you really want to use it, just launch it from the command prompt (iexplore.exe)...it's still there, they just bury it in favor of the Edge monstrosity that tries to be the end-all-be-all.

One of many reasons I'm an OG Mac user :bananadance:

Went grocery shopping this morning for the trip.

I am about to install a pair of bed stiffeners, connect my CB and antenna, and I'll be ready!

    Excited!

I made a lengthy post about bed stiffeners earlier this year in the 3rd gen forum. These met all the things I talked about, were competitively priced, and were available immediately. Made the decision an easy one!

I have 2/3rds of a 5ft Tacoma bed filled with wood for our campfires, so we are probably covered for most of our nights, if not all of them.

I'll be heading towards Dateland tomorrow morning, with a couple of personal stops along the way.

Excited to see you all on Friday!

I'll be doing another comprehensive trip report, so if you have any qualms about your face/name/truck appearing on TW (and my Overland Flagstaff website) let me know and I'll keep you out of the story.
