Weird question, but when you're measuring your arms / chest / whatever for progress measuring sake, do you usually measure when the muscle is flexed and contracted, or extended?

    (in b4 penis measuring :p)

ok, cool...same. i wonder because when i see some posts on fitness forums, i'm not sure if they mean flexed or not...because i've read in a muscle mag that you measure unflexed. and if some of those guys are posting 15" unflexed, then geez...i've got some work to do

ha ha, yeah if that's the case then same here!

also, it is important to note that the standard, accepted protocol is that any measurement should immediately be increased by 20%, then an additional 5% for every future reference! just so you know...

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I measure UN flexed That's how I read you should do it. I tried it both ways and my measurements came out 15" un flexed and 15 1/2" flexed

What's funny is some folks just have big bone structure and maybe fat. Just cause the measurements are big doesn't mean you can lift more.

Personally, I track progress by body weight and actual strength.

Removed that stupid "Sport Bumper Trim"
When i went to school for personal training we were taught to measure relaxed. Biceps measured right where the deltoid meets the biceps, forearms at their largest point. Chest at the nipples.
