My opinion... A few years ago, I noticed consumer reports was giving poor ratings to a vehicle that had just barely become available. I can only assume they were projecting based on past reviews, but it still made me question their credibility.

BTW, I believe there's already an annoyingly long thread on this but... It's the first year of a new generation of Tacoma, it's going to have problems, just like 05-06 had problems with 2nd gens. At this point, with the amount of TSB's required to fix 16's and 17's I wouldn't blame C&D for stating it's a bad buy as of now.

You obviously didn't read the article. It breaks down the CR review and explains how they contradict themselves

I was stating the actual C&D review, not Torque News. @nDub found it, thanks. That whole thread was BS from the first comment, time to not do that again. C&D does some good reviews, but of course they have their problems. If a person has a problem with someone else (who is paid) to present their own views on a specific vehicle, even when that said person has never physically been around or in this vehicle, then they need to get there asses out of their chairs and go drive the damn vehicle themselves. Test drives are free, they're there for a reason.

Nah not at all. I think your exactly right. Just pointing out to the people that don't know that CR isnt an almighty god and they also have bias like we do and the only way to see if you like the truck is to test drive it and see if it fits your personality. Too many people on here are afraid of what others think and second guessing their purchases based on what CR said

I'm sure "torque news" has just as many subscribers as CR...

Really it doesn't matter who is correct, the CR article/list was bad publicity. TW may be a small sample of actual owners but combined with Consumer reports and carcomplaints.com Toyota is not exactly setting the world ablaze with positive feedback. Sales numbers are still high but in an ever increasing market share of manufacturers willing to bend over in the name of customer service Toyota should take serious notice. I like Toyota and had significant issues with my 3rd gen but personal feelings aside a prospective buyer New to Tacoma or Toyota may see the CR article or browse TW and have second thoughts as to what new vehicle to purchase.
I get that there is plenty of happy owners but most people google " Tacoma problems" when researching a new car or go with big name companies reviews when considering a major purchase and not something found on a no name website like "torque news".
I'm quite sure the Tacoma will live on and resale will stay quite high as it's still a pickup truck and it has Toyota's legendary quality badge in front of it. Toyota however needs to quit resting on their laurels and step up to address issues and put to bed any questions as to reliability and quality or find themselves lacking in a shrinking market share of quality driven consumers.
I personally would lose quality entertainment but I sincerely wish Toyota would fix some of the plaguing issues as it maintains brand reputation and customer loyalty and keeps my resale high as well as I still drive a Toyota and will continue to do so.

IMHO the "issues" are not with the Tacoma as many many manufacturers have bugs with a new generation that gradually get worked out as a model progresses through its production. The "issues" are with Toyota's customer service and approach to customer complaints.
