I've got two situations to ask about...

    1. I've been having an issue with my iTunes account.

I have no problem purchasing items on my phone. Then when I get on my Macbook to download the music into my iTunes library, I'll go to my purchases in iTunes, and click to download the songs.

Then a pop-up comes up that says "You don't have write access for your iTunes Media folder or a folder within it. Change permissions (in the finder) and then choose store > check for available downloads."

I've made sure to update all read/write privileges of all the folders in my music folder, and this issue has continued to be constant.

    and

    2. Recently married, we each have our own itunes accounts. Is there a way to combine them into one itunes account so I could automatically download her purchases onto my iphone and vice versa?

Any help on either would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Figured I post back here in case anyone has the same question(s)

I just bought an Apple TV 3 - it's hooked up to my flat screen via HDMI and stereo through optical digital.

Use Airplay and mirror my Macbook Pro.

Problem solved. Now anything I do on my Macbook Pro is streamed onto my home entertainment center. LOVE IT

I also download two apps to my iPhone:

    1. Apple Remote (free). This makes accessing and playing my entire iTunes library so very nice. It's been years since I've had access to my entire library on my stereo.

    2. Mobile Mouse ($1.99). This turns my iPhone into a track pad and keyboard. I can control my Macbook Pro via wifi. It also has application specific keys and functions, eg if you're using Safari then there's a "back," "home," "refresh" button, etc...

    I could not be happier.

Next I'm going to purchase a 4TB NAS hard drive and connect it to my Airport Extreme via ethernet.... turn that hard drive into a shared drive across my home network. Then load it up with the 3TBs of movies and TV shows I have. Then my Macbook Pro can access those files via the home network and I'll be able to stream them in 1080 to my home entertainment center.

    Me = pig
where I'm at right now = shit

My wife is trying to convince me to get an iphone. I'm a droid guy, but my droidx has crapped out after 2 years. So its new phone time, and I'm leaning towards the droid razr maxx. I love swype texting and told her no way will I get a phone that doesnt have swype. Is there anyway for the iphone to use swype thats efficient? We tried some apps on her phone, but they were painful to use. Feel free to flame, or try to convince me they are a better device. If they have features that are worth it, I may look past the swype issue... maybe.

Which is the best offroad navigation app for the Iphone 5? I need to be able to upload maps of racecourses and such. Also need it to pin me as I'm on course and moving. Maybe even make new routes, similar to the Lawrence GPS units. Is there anything out there?

Thanks for posting in the thread, but this is not the thread to flame, or discuss Apple vs. Android. There are at least 5 or more past threads that have discussed that exact topic.

Might search this thread for GPS. There was some talk back 3 or 4 pages I think about a GPS that runs without cell or wifi coverage. Also check out modsquads build, he using an interesting set up that I think woudl work for a iphone5 as well.

My 16 year old son is wanting a MacBook Pro for Christmas. I know nothing about Macs. He doesn't care if it is new or used but, wants something 2010 or newer.

I know nothing about Macs so what should I be looking for? Any special deals out there?

    Thanks for your help!

Good place to start is the refurbished section in the online apple store...some good deals can be had. Purchased my circa 2006 Macbook and 2008 iMac as refurbs and have zero problems.

You need to upgrade to Snow Leopard first, then to Lion.

Big promotion of "Microsoft Surface" and new Microsoft office at the mall today ... balloons, banners and etc. .

HOWEVER, I went to the "Microsoft Surface Store" in the mall lobby and there only 2 customers there  and 7 employees standing around .

Then walked to the "Apple Store" in the same mall ... and there must have been (at least) 75 customers in there and it was super busy & crazy as usual . :)

I wonder if the "Microsoft Surface" will catch on ...
