Idk man. I'm sure it'll be fine. But Everytime I run into something like that that, I just shake my head. Not trying to offend.

I much prefer a split bolt coupled with elec liner tape as opposed to a wire nut. If it's an exterior box, I prefer a Polaris.

Not offended at all. Looking for help.

Here is the deal. I have my second final inspection tomorrow. With this circuit everything works fine with a regular breaker (the way it has for years). I must have a shared neutral somewhere I can not get right, because the AFCI (stupid code for this particular situation) keeps tripping. I want to move the breaker, and put it back later. There would be nothing wrong with what I already have 5 years ago.

What's on your trippy afci breaker circuit?

A shared neutral somewhere I believe. The circuit runs through a receptical, then to a switch, then another switch and recep.. 2 lights and 5 receps. None of which will be used all at once (I can just about garuntee). I just can't find the problem. Too many variables with switches and receps.

The AFCI breaker is the head ache. A regular breaker works fine. The way the AFCI trips it points to a shared neutral.

flip off all other breakers and remove one by one each neutral and try to set your afci until you have all your neutrals removed or your afci doesn't trip anymore.

That is not better than a wire but. Definitely pull that apart, twist the wire, and put a wire but on that.

AFCI detects arcs along the circuit. Regular breaker is meant to protect conductors from overheating from too much current. If the afci is tripping, it’s because there is an arc somewhere. Potential fire hazard. AFCI is different than a GFCI. There is a break or a loose connection somewhere in the line.

Use a wire nut, Buchanan’s are meant for grounds that were spliced together.

Are you sure you didn’t poke out the side of the stud and knick a wire? You only need nail plates if the wire is too close to the outside edge of the stud. Also for where a tv would be mounted on a wall I don’t see wires running horizontally through studs at that height. Doesn’t make much sense to me but then again people do some funky ass homeowner specials so you never know

I wouldn't have done what you did with the cremp I would have used a wire nut but if the afci holds then I guess run it.

    But use a wire nut.
If it's going to be inspected you're going to have to try to hide that wire nut.

They make a ul-listed butt splice but it's just called a split-on or something I'll look for a picture later and try to post it if you still need help.

    That they are.
Here in California they're trying to implement AFCI's everywhere I don't know how that's going to work with compressor Motors, like a fridge. going to be interesting......

It’s really up to the electrician to determine that and I believe it’s 1” 1/4” away from the edge of the stud is where you need to be by code unless you have a nail plate. Inspector usually picks up on that. @Dimestore55
