I am an Atheist, but I am not at all offended when people say Merry Christmas to/around me, and I will say it to my Christian friends.

    well heres the thing
TECHNICALLY it is offensive to say merry christmas to someone not celebrating that holiday

    BUT

if people are half as reasonable as they should be(instead of taking it up the ass and being picky pricks) everyone knows 9/10 people dont say merry christmas and refer to religion. they just do it because its that time of the year again when society used to be more friendly and polite, so its tradition.

not trying to bash. just saying i dont think anyone in america should get mad over the separation of church and state. leave it be.

I think employers should call each employee into the office and ask them if they are offended when someone wishes them a Merry Christmas

If they reply yes, then tell them no problem I won't risk offending you by giving you Christmas off, you can show up on the 25th like any other work day.

my feeling is this...those of you who feel that we should say Merry Christmas because its right are wrong

Im a Christian and i celebrate Christmas...HOWEVER...i think those of you who do not believe in others or businesses or the govt being tolerant of others religions are being completely intolerant

call it political correctness all you want

youre being intolerant of other peoples beliefs...the whole basis for this country being founded was so that we could worship the way we wanted...be it Jewish or Christian or Catholic or Hindu or Muslim or whatever you choose to follow

Happy Holidays is a perfectly acceptable greeting in my book

I do however not agree that thing's names (such as a Christmas tree) be changed

People who are offended by "Merry Christmas" deserve to be offended.

I would think that's more inclusive than exclusive....Christmas is in fact a holiday...

I've already given my input on the subject, but I'll say this...

If someone told me happy Hanukkah, I wouldn't be offended. And I would tell them Merry Christmas in return, and assume they wouldn't be offended. If they are, that's their problem. I wasn't put on this earth to accommodate people and make everyone happy. I believe what I believe, they believe what they do, and that's the way it is.

If it's being "intolerant" of others to say Merry Christmas instead of happy holidays, then, as already mentioned, they are being intolerant of me and my beliefs for not allowing me to say Merry Christmas. So who's gonna worry about my "feelings?" It sure would suck if I was offended by people saying happy Hanukkah/Kwanza/whatever the frig else you wanna say because apparently no one wants to stick up for Christmas.

And yes, those retarded people at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. that call it a "Holiday Tree" can all lick a sweaty left nut. I hope they're all allergic to pine trees and break out in hives for 3 months.
