    Another question for you tiger...

Someone brought up that if the cop "thinks" you have drugs or weapons, they may be able to search the car. Is this true? Couldnt every LEO just say he "thinks" you have a weapon or drugs? I know if he smells pot or sees a gun, then he has PC. But what would be good PC for a "new car smell" truck and a 20 something married couple traveling to their parents be?

Agreed! I usually drive through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennesee, Missouri, and Kentucky. They are usually pretty easy on the gun laws. I make sure the states I tracel accept my CCW. Thanks for the heads up!

a dog being able to sit is a little bit dumbed down

thats a passive indicator that the dog is taught

the dog will hit and sit and stare

thinking that someone may have drugs/weapons is NOT PC...however smelling crack or reefer (yes crack has a very distinct smell after being smoked) can be PC...

PC depends on totality of circumstances...i couldnt tell you one specific thing that could be seen as PC

it could be movements youre making in the vehicle before the officer gets to the window...or something he sees on the backseat...or your demeanor

He said it was an unmarked car and a cop in a jump suit. My guess is H.P. My uncle gave consent to search. Said he was there for 45 minutes, pulled all his crap out.

Getting pulled over and being searched is the only reason to spend 45 minutes stopped in Oklahoma, anyways.

If the cop is dishonest, he / she can come up with any excuse for probable cause.

How could anyone prove the cop did or did not smell something?

Refusal is PC because you probably have something to hide, this came from an LAPD friend.

Someone could prove that the cop did not smell anything illegal, by not having anything illegal in their vehicle....

and thats why the LAPD are the most hated cops in teh US. even if i had nothing to hide i would refuse just based on the fact that its time consuming and a pain in the ass. thats not PC, thats not wanting to waste my time and be inconvenienced
