Interested in hitting up Glamis and Ocotillo Wells with some Quads and dirtbikes, the only problem is....I have none. Has anyone had any good experiences with local rental companies? ANyone know the cheapest place to rent? Im researching a few but was hoping someone had something better.

There are some spots in Ocotillo right on the 78 that you can rent from. One buy the Blu Inn and one by My Desert Rose. Before i got my quad i was looking at renting. It was 200 a day if i remember. I said F' that and went and bought one. Then took off to Ocotillo the following morning. Not sure if they the have something by Glamis.

    Check this place out:

yea i checked out some place near ocotillo and they were renting them (honda250) for about $150/day. Cheapest I found was $130 right near my house (Orange County) but I think the cost of towing and trailer rental will offset it all and I may just go with the Ocotillo Rentals.

I was much younger when I last rode one so I'm pretty new to the whole ATV scene but will a Honda250 do? or shall I step it up to the 400?

Get some tie downs and load it up in the back of your truck. That's what i do.

The 250 will do but if you want something with a little more pep then the 400.
The one by My Desert Rose i think rents out those Honda 700's.

yeah i would say rent from near you're house and throw it in the back of you're truck with some tie downs, thats what i do.

One of my favorite places to ride is glamis, just can't get enough, i have a CRF 250X (Honda 4 stroke) with an 8 paddle on it and the 8 paddle works like a champ in glamis, gives me so much more torque, i barely have to pull up to get a wheelie going

Ocotillo is a different story though, i've never been to ocotillo so the trip Padilla set up should be fun

John, get youre fucking ass out to Ocotillo, NOV. 7th, you have 10 weeks to plan, no excuses my friend be there or be gay haha, idk if i'll be able to have my bike out there but we'll all still have a hell of a time off roading

I forgot to mention i'm 6'2 220lbs and the bike carries me fine, granted i've had the bike for awhile so i'm down for a 450 but he hasn't rode in along time so a 250 should be good...wait a second.....are we talking about ATV's?

Paddles make anything out in sand easy to pull wheelies
Pics from Sand Drags. Forget the name of the blue sand rail. Something Extreme popping wheelies with ease. There were others also. Then their was this PreRunner every time it went down those front wheels NEVER touched ground.

well hey, padilla, next time you're planning a trip to glamis, shoot me a pm, i should have my bike down in san diego this year so hopefully i'll be able to frequent places down there that are normally a pain in the ass for me to get to.

And i wasn't saying i was special cause i could do a wheelie with a paddle, everyone can in the sand, i was making a reference that it is so much easier with a paddle in sand than a knobby on dirt but i wasn't that clear.

But yeah, those pictures bring back memories, i raced a mid travel S10 and 6" lifted Ram 1500 down the sand drags, beat both of them

Gotta start teaching all the domestic car lovers to respect the Taco...haha someone should get a sticker made saying "FEAR THE TACO" hahaha that'd be funny shit

For sure! I'll hit you up. That would be sweet! That same Glamis trip there was this super lifted Tundra that raced a Chevy up Olds. Tundra barely made it and the Chevy had to turn back around.

LTZ400 nothing special. If i would have known better i would have gotten a 450 or a 700 Raptor. It's all good though.

    EDIT
If i had the cash id pull the motor and turn it into a trophy kart.

HAHA that is great make it a 700 2 stroke somehow haha idk how you guys do it man, i could NOT to save my life, ride a quad in glamis or anywhere for that matter really, idk what it is but i just can't handle 4 wheels like i can 2....unless i'm in a truck, thats a different story

Story about Olds, i was 3/4ths of the way up when my K&N air filter head fell of my CAI, the hose clamp got loose from all the shit i was doing earlier and going up Olds it finally just fell of and my engine stalled out....lets just say i drove it back reallyy slowww

I have a kx500 but I am without a truck. I know some good local spots north of phoenix (and very close to phoenix) I go to Glamis as often as I can and I ride all the time (the heat doesn't bother me). I would be willing to pay for gas if someone wants to load up the ol widowmaker in their truck and make a new riding buddy.

drove it back really slow... lmfao! thats probably the worst thing that could happen at glamis. all that sand in the cylinder prolly bored out your engine. Did it damage cylinder/piston?

Does anyone know of any good atv rentals in the LA area? I would like to go to gorman with two quads maybe three and a few friends. I know there are a few but man they all require for you to have five hundred.
    300- deposit
    ~150-rental ??
    ~trailer + gas
I am new to the ATV world and was looking at a minimum 250cc quad

Any tips? References? And anyone willing to go with when the time comes?
Considered purchasing one but they are out of my budget at the moment
