Audio gurus and y’all familiar with DQ-61??

I just don’t understand why it only does it at higher volumes!

 

My crossover just came in too... lol don’t suppose I should try and install it until this is figured out

 

Been trying to upload video for y’all to hear. It won’t let me upload an 8 second video. Audio control wasn’t open. I left message for them to call me back next business day

 

I’m so frustrated I’m thinking about pulling the power pack out and going to buy an amp from Walmart to use until I can figure this out or build a new harness

 

Don't sum full range signals. Summing is meant to recombine band limited signals, like from a factory amplifier that has already split up the woofer and tweeter signal.

 

Any recommendations Dolby?

 

I’m thinking bout just getting a small kicker amp from Walmart to get me thru till next week. Ordered new harness

 

Then I can just use the kicker amp for my new 10” sub I’ve ordered once get the other figured out

 

Nah I’m just gonna try and fix this mess I’ve got right now. No need in trying to add a component to a messed up system

 

Here is how I’ve got it behind the dash out puts from dq-61 to output of alpine harness....

The outputs from the dq are supposed to go into the outputs to powerpack correct? Not inputs to powerpack?

 

I’m tempted to pull the dq-61 and install this little crossover and put my lc2i back in and see what happens

 

That right there may be your issue... make a full t harness, it will makes things way easier and cleaner.

 

Ah I did the t harness but twisted it all up when posi tapped. Also just rechecked all connections and they’re all good but still doing the same

 

I'm still not sure how you have this configured, which is why I wanted to know the signal path. So I guess confirm a few things...

Signal path = HU (speaker out) > Audio Control > Alpine Power Pack > Speakers

This is not correct. You should have HU output connected to the Audio Control INPUT, and the Audio Control OUTPUT connected to the Power Pack INPUT, and the Power Pack OUTPUT going to your speakers. Along the way you need to verify your signal strength is attenuated for the next component in the system. This means you don't send 7V to the Power Pack if it's only rated to accept 4V.

You also want your Power Pack set for 4 channel, no summing, and no crossover settings. You do all of the processing on the Audio Control and the amplifier is a dumb component that just amplifies what you send it.

I am assuming you are using Front L/R and Rear L/R as your inputs to the Audio Control, and you are using the Power Pack to power front and rear speakers. If this is not the case, we need to know. For instance, if you grabbed the tweeter and woofer signals from your front speakers and are powering the rear from the HU.

So I got it figured out thanks to a couple of you guys! Sounds amazing now! Thanks a lot @5nahalf and @dolbytone

 

As it turned out it I had the dq 61 connected to the output of my amp instead of the input of my amp. My mistake! This thing seems to have a lot of potential now that it’s hooked up correctly

 

@5nahalf are you familiar with the clarion crossover I’ve got? Clarion MCD360

 

I am not, but I have a similar (though way more complex) JBL one from about 20 years ago.

What are you planning to do with it? Normally something like that would be used to replace the passive crossovers in a 2/3-way component set.

 

I’m looking to add it to 5 channel infinity amp rated at 75rms x4@4ohms +200rms x1@4ohms and a 10” infinity ref ultra shallow mounted subwoofer rated at 200 rms. My speakers are focal integration coax isc 165 rated 70rms@4 ohms

I’ll pull the power pack when this equipment comes in Tuesday
