I replaced my head unit and all 6 speakers in my 2008 access cab Tacoma. All the speakers are 4 ohm. From my understanding the factory speakers I ripped out were all 4 ohm also. I am going to get a small amp for my 6x9s in the front doors and was wondering what to do with the old wires. The new Rockford Fosgate tweeters are just running from the old original wiring and I was wondering if I should leave them or double up the old 6x9 wires and the tweeter wires and run them both to the tweeters. Any advice would be appreciated. I guess the best thing might be to find the split box and take the wire incoming from the head unit and just run it to the tweeter.

Nahhhhh don’t do that, it’s pointless. Just keep the tweets on the original wires. I don’t use my old door speaker wires anymore either. I would just ziptie or tuck them somewhere where they won’t rattle and just call it a day.

All aftermarket door speakers have the brackets, you just still need to buy the adapters from Amazon.

I meant to say that they seem to come with the adapters too. You can check the fit against the make / model and it says will fit the tacoma.

When I put my 6x9s in I had to get the Amazon brackets (Metra 82-8146) and take my Dremel and cut out some of the plastic on the inside of the door panel. It was a tight fit. The 6x9s I put in are Kicker 43DSC69304s. My 6.5s are Kicker DSC6504s and I used Metra 82-8148 brackets. I just got a Rockford Fostgate R250X4 amp for those 4 speakers, it should sound good.
