I thought this was interesting: http://www.toyota.com.au/fj-cruiser?WT.ac=Tab1FJCruiser

Apparently, Australia, known for harsh as hell conditions in the Outback, is getting our Fj Cruiser, which as you know shares a lot with the Tacoma, including suspension, drive-train Etc. This is often considered "weak", especially compared to Australia's Hilux's and Landcruisers, but maybe Toyota thinks they are tough enough for the Outback?

The only vehicle I want from them is the Landcruiser 70 series, in either the single cab setup, or the Troop cab. Those things are awesome.

You know both the Tacoma and the FJ Cruiser are based on the Land Cruiser Prado 120 frame, right? The Prado 120 is otherwise known in the US as GX470.

Interesting, if you check the Hilux's specs on Toyota.Au's web site, the 3.0L diesel truck weighs 220 lb more than the 4.0L gas version. Towing capacity stays the same at 4950 lb, less than the Taco's 6500 lb rating.

Also interesting to see Toyota just now offering the FJ Cruiser in Japan and Australia, after demand has waned in the US.
