Nobody is trying to change the car industry here... All I’m saying is since manuals are produced less they are harder to find, and they hold better value. I’m also not saying everyone wants or can drive one, but in my experience looking for one they sell very fast. Nothing else to say or prove...

Cadillac put itself in a weird position years ago as it tried to transition from full on luxury to performance luxury. They put themselves in competition with BMW and they said they plan to keep manuals going, so l guess Cadillac doesnt want to lose any potential customers.

Oh I hope you’re right, I just don’t have any faith in GM

I dont trust GM either. The last GM product l purchased was a stripped base model 2004 Cavalier.

People used that argument on me for years. So when I decided to snap my ankle in half falling on ice, I snapped my right one.

    Suckers.

I think the Gen 4 (~2025-2026 MY) will likely be the end of the manual Tacomas.

No need for anyone to try to change the industry as it's changed on it's own and as a result and unfortunately manuals are near gone.

And yes, manuals are produced less. The reason is that the new vehicle industry's mission all the way from manufacturer to dealer is to sell as many vehicles as fast as they can. If manual Tacomas were as hot a seller as you seem to think, dealer lots would be littered with them, which is definitely not the case.

I'm a manual fan. Been driving my 1996 5-speed Tacoma for 24 years and 414,000 miles, however we are a dying breed.

Cost money to switch over the assembly line, lazy America wants to drive automatic so they can text, eat, put on make up, read the newspaper, while they get to work. Manufacturers make stuff to make money. Toyota is know as one of the leanest manufacturers out there, they are getting every penny they can. So they make us automatics. My guess is they only do manual transmission runs when it’s cost effective based on requests. It’s the limited number of manual transmissions that will make these desirable. I ended up in a Toyota because I couldn’t replace my salvage title Cherokee Sport manual transmission with another. I stayed with Toyota because of the manual option, plus my first made me 4 grand and a few years usage, due to the frame recall.

I decided not to get the truck with more miles but...I traded my 2018 cement AC auto in for a 2019 quicksand DCSB manual with half the miles today. It’s been driving me crazy for 2 years so I finally just bit the bullet and made the trade. I love it already! So much more fun to drive! Thanks for all the advice from everyone!

In a round about view why only 18% of Americans (not international) drivers can drive or choose to drive manuals is partly due to this whole "instant gratification" that seems to be all the rage.

I'm curious on what the ratio of auto to manual drivers actually use Siri/Alexa/Google Home. My thought is the manual drivers are not in such a big hurry or should I say as lazy and prefer to get up and turn on the lights, change the room temp, or just dial the phone themselves.

I can certainly be way wrong about this, too.
