Auto trans not shifting passed 3rd

    All good information here.
    Only thing I will add is, next time you do a Service on the Trans.
    Save the fluid that you drain, then put back in the same amount.
    You might add just a LITTLE bit extra that way you know you have enough to get a good trickle started from the over flow check plug. I’d rather start with just a little more than a little low.
    That way you don’t have to keep pulling the fill plug over and over again.

    The engine lights came on today showing p0776 solenoid b stuck. Is this a fluid level thing? Its been driven firvdays and nothing till now? Still a pinched wire or is the solenoid dead?

    Strange ?
    If it was pinched wires , I beleive you would have been stuck back at day 1 with a hard fault code instead of day 5 .
    Lets roll back time here .
    The reason you changed the oil was for a transmission service or did you have issues with the truck stuck in limp mode at that time ?
    Changing fluid does not usually fix solenoid codes unless they are all plugged up with debris . You did mention your pan was fairly clean other than a little bit on the magnets ?

    I am gonna pull the pan check wires. Can anyone tell me how much fluid I should put back in. I assume I screwed that up in the beginning so I can out back what comes out. Thanks again

    4077 is an exhaust code
    wires get pinched when guys put the filter back on and by accident the wires to the solenoids get cut . It happens often beleive it or not .

    Do you still think you are low on fluid ? P0776 is a linear solenoid code ( SL2)
    Try clearing the code again . If it happens again , double check your fluid level

    No shortcuts but I think I messed up the leveling section. I dud the park neutral thing. At temp lit up. Went out then 3 minute later stayed on. I opened tge overflow while truck on and a half quart came gushing out

    I wouldnt drain the fluid yet .
    It would be nice to find out why this happened . You did the service correctly by removing the pan i know that .
    Clear the code and re-road test to see if the code comes back up .
    There are a lot of reasons why the code could get tripped . Low on fluid is one .Lets verify the fluid is full ? Corrosion in the harness is another along with a faulty SL2 solenoid .

    Just to verify , you are checking the fluid when it gets to temp with the engine running ?
    Sorry, but lately a lot of members are skipping this step and checking the fluid when the truck is off ....no no no
    If you check it with engine off , you are going to be 4 quarts low
    If you are checking the overflow with the engine running , please disregard

    Yes opening the overflow while engine running but I think I screwed up one thing not sure if its pertinent. I opened the overflow before the light was steady

    Thats fine
    You can be overfilled by a little but you should " never " be underfilled .
    There are all kinds of additives in transmission fluid that can fight an overfilled transmission .
    There are ZERO additives in transmission fluid that can fight an underfilled transmision .
