    I am Manual guy threw and threw. My next truck is going to be Diesel 6 speed. I have no issue's with my Manual. Hell my g/f drives 6 speed mt 2011 camaro ss.

    An 8 speed auto would be 2 seconds faster 0-60, get much better MPG, and basically make your truck feel 500lbs lighter, not to mention increase your towing range, shift faster, etc ,etc.

    I love manuals too, but even I wont pass that up.

    Being that this is my first AUTO ever, I am very pleased so far.

    I just enjoy driving my manual. Its fun and the lower gear ratio on my tacoma vs. my previous nissan xe makes crawling real slow up hills easy in first. I learned on manual and both cars I have owned were manual. Iv driven across the country 3 times this year since may and still don't feel like I care for the auto with cruise control....The only time it sucks is entering Mass higways with their stubby on-ramps. If you could even call them on-ramps.


    In fact the "only" time I have been pulled over I was driving an auto with cruise on. (not sure I was meant to drive anything other than manual)

    Note most peoples points are right on and some just suck.

    I've had manual transmission on my last truck for about 5 years and it was fine. Just bought a Taco with Automatic trani and I'm loving it. It's a coin toss for me, 50/50.

    Stonewall is the fattest 5 lug slug ever
    It's all in the money to me- If a manual tranny goes bad, I can easily swap it, and for relatively cheap. But if an automatic tranny goes bad, there's nothing I can do to fix it- they are an enigma to me. They are also more expensive, if I were to go buy one.
    Mostly, it depends on how you drive the truck as to how long it lasts, and which tranny fits your driving style better. Personally, I prefer a stick.

    Not me. Im finding modern auto trannys are pretty dam good! The one in the Tacoma, Dodge 2500 (Cummins), and our Honda Accord, are all fantastic, and seem to hold the gear when needed, and shift as needed. After driving the manual in the Tacoma, I prefer the auto by leaps and bounds. To the point I would buy a different vehicle if all they offered was the current 6 speed for the whole line up.
