yes. You must now bash the auto tranny, pee, and scream at the same time.

I love my manual! Auto suck off road! Can't "rock" them when you get stuck. And I always seem to tare out auto's. they can't handle me!

its best when in a mens room. Look directly at the guy next to you, and scream. Bonus points for screaming "IT BURNS" or "SPARTAAA!!!"

Love my manual for "rocking" off-road too. Although that caused my clutch to burn out three times in my '91. Twas worth it though. My only reservation came two weeks after getting my truck. Sprained my ankle really bad around Christmas and sure was Jonesin' for an Auto.

These trucks shift pretty decent without the clutch though. About 1000rpm difference between 1st and 2nd and 500rpm difference between the rest when downshifting. Up shifting you can drop it in where ever you want just about.

Love my manual. More so in the dirt.imo.
Just throwing it out there too, my friend has the same truck as me only he has an auto and a2013. I get better mpg and am a lot quicker off the line. Smoked him pretty much. So once again its just peoples opinions. But ive seen a stick out perform an auto.

You are lower geared and can rev the engine more off the line. Race me in my auto I will give you a run for your money and I am running stock intake, exhaust, etc. I do have 4.88 diff gears. They make it a little more peppy but nothing huge.

Also mpg is very driver sensitive so comparing his mpg to your mpg doesn't prove much. Autos have a better EPA rating though.

I don't know about more reliable but I have always thought Manual was in general better for long term. Clutch goes out, pretty cheap DIY or service. Tranny goes out, well.. hope you saved up.

That being said I will probably never own another manual vehicle. I grew up with them, raced them, loved them... but living in SoCal has killed the manual for me with stop lights, red lights and bumper to bumper traffic for hours. Left foot and Right arm get a workout going First,Second,Neutral,Stop and repeat 20000 times on the way to work and home every day. Plus the wife doesn't know how to drive a manual and it's occasionally important. She couldn't drive any of my manual vehicles.

From experience, I've cooked two auto trans while towing (within rated weight limits) Ford and a Dodge.

I've also been stranded after wheeling in water from a failed auto trans sensor/solenoid, not sure what but it was electrical. Warranty. Another Ford.

Personal preference, I'm a manual guy, all trucks and Jeeps owned have been manuals if feasibly available. Simple, fewer moving parts, little or no electronically controlled parts.

Wife's 4Runner...auto. However she says that she digs sticks with this little smirk...I don't know. :notsure:

I will admit tho, talking on the cell phone is easier with an auto.

MT is the more durable tranny. Not saying AT is no good. They both have their place. That being said if I were going to go after a world record for miles I would get the MT. It simply will last longer and maintenace is so much cheaper that it doesnt even compare. My rule of thumb is for a 4 banger go stick. 6 or 8 I go auto. To each his own

Yes we do; who are you kidding? A real man better know how to drive 5 spd...its like a McGuyver or James Bond skill or something. Like flying a helicopter or riding a horse......

I've had both; 07 6 spd and my current 08 auto. I liked my manual alot because its much more fun to drive. And for towing, big rigs are all manual. But for everyday driving, I think the auto is smoother, and I enjoy it way more for towing too.

Besides... I have my GT for when I want to :burnrubber:

I think all big rigs being manuals has more to do with the fact that they need so many gears. Hell 10-15 years ago having 4 gears in an auto tranny wasn't very common and big rigs have had 10+ gears for a very long time. I believe they are just getting around to having some 7 and 8 spd autos now. It will probably still be quite a while before we see an auto with 18 gears, if we ever even do. haha
