Lol. I use a key to open my 2012 every day. Then manually switch my gears to make it go. I just hate a auto.

Edit-my truck would suck if it was a auto. It would be a POS! Hands down.

V6 yes, and it's poor gearing, not great automatic.

    I4 NO.

I think on the I4 its 22 manual, 23 auto, that's really splitting hairs on better economy, driving habits alone will make that difference transparent, I get 25 or so summer 23 on winter blend manual trans.

I still say no true difference in strength since no data has come out demonstrating either to be prone to breakage, unless I missed some post.

mine is 4wd, Toyota seems conservative on the highway numbers, I get 19 city too . My reg cab still got 21-22 hauling gear for a hunting trip one winter, going roundtrip up the mountain.

^^^This right here is really why this argument is pointless. I'm pretty sure strength wise we both lose because our ring and pinions will likely grenade first. As for longevity who knows right now.

You are also the light weight regular cab, there isn't different epa for access cab vs regular cab, so the reg cab can crush the epa rating.

Really anyone with a stock truck can easily beat the highway epa by driving the speed limit. By a lot more if you drive under 65.

I get WAY into the 33+ mpg range driving 60.

Breaking ring n pinions doesn't sound fun. I'm guilty of a few high rpm downshift I didnt want to do, but he truck is so light I doubt the driveline cared.

I rev match and have no drivetrain lash...one of the perks of having a...manual...

On to the haters of me rev matching my pickup...

I would bet that there isnt one member on here, that cant drive a manual. In fact.....I bet there are thousands who can drive 10-18 speed manuals......Foot shifters (Cycles), and the like. SO....those who like to try and bash someone for their choice in tranny in a small truck, go pound sand.
Given the advancements in modern auto trannys, Im finding them a joy to drive more and more.

I can drive a manual but I think the auto is nicer in a small truck since I use it for a lot of in town driving

I like all of this statement...finally a thoughtful and meaningful statement in a thread full of garbage...I like my manual and the majority of Tacoma owner's like their auto...neither really break so what's the point of judging?

Nope... I have blown one up and almost blew up a 2nd one from a bad install (done by a mechanic not me). Went with ECGS this time and have had no issues.
I don't even know what rev matching is. I can guess but I won't. haha
