Thinking about doing a JDM swap, but in case the engine I get came off an automatic, does anyone know what I would need to do to install the JDM engine? I guess to start off, can I put a flywheel on a engine that had a flexplate? And are there differences between the bellhousings of the auto and manual? Or does that bell housing plate from my current engine just mount directly on to the JDM engine? Anyone have experience with this?

There wouldn’t be much difference auto manual wise except what’s behind the crankshaft. As long as you replace the flexplate with a flywheels, pressure plate, and all the stuff Manuals need you’ll be fine.

There are more differences with a JDM engine than you’d think. Sometimes pulleys are splined different, sized differently, the intake manifold may be different, the connectors and/or sensors may be different or absent, things like that.

As long as you have your stock engine to swap parts from, you’ll be fine.

my JDM 3.4 swap involved changing the oil pan and pickup tube, transferring the oil cooler, swapping the pulleys due to different rib count, intake and exhaust... all of which were from the original engine.
