    Has anyone noticed this problem?

My shifter knob seems like it's not screwed on fully. I can twist the top left or right with very little force. Seems like maybe it just wasn't "screwed in" all the way, although I don't know anything about how these are attached, etc. Unfortunately I can't really screw it on another revolution because it seems to be attached to the leather skirt around the knob so it can't be screwed on further.

Has anyone noticed this? Is there away to disconnect it from the leather skirt so it can be tightened at least 1-2 more revolutions?

Any help would be much appreciated!

If you push down on the plastic ring at the top of the leather skirt it'll pop off, then see if you can screw the knob on tighter and snap the skirt back on.

Actually have the same thing going on with my manual transmission knob, I can rotate each direction about 45 degrees before the leather boot stops it. Figured I'd ask at my first service, since it's not an immediate issue. I have to mean to rotate it, it doesn't just rotate freely, though.

Ahh, thanks man. I figured the skirt could be detached somehow, but I didn't want to force it and break it. So I'll give this a shot.

Any update on this? My knob spins pretty loosely, too. Lefty loosey is 100% loose, but righty tightly gets tight at around 20 degrees. Was yours similar?

honestly you don't even need a tool, grab the chrome ring at the top of the boot and just push it down. Pops right off and then spin your knob and lift the boot ring back up and it clips right on.

Mine was like that when I got it a couple months ago. Took it the the dealership and they just pushed the chrome ring down spin it 2 times and re attached it. I knew I could do it easily myself but let them do it incase ir broke. Now it's tight! Doesn't budge. Guy said he sees a lot of them like that from the factory.
