automatic "slapshift"

doubt it. ya'll transmissions were made to handle the stress of towing and 4x4. slap shifting wont hurt it.

 

what about if you were to agressivly drive it, like drag racing or something

 

like the others said. as long as you dont do it all the time it shouldnt have any affect on the tranny. reason mine went out is because very time i got in it i drove it like a race car (cause i wanted a 5 speed, so i got a 5 speed) so you should be fine.

You will have more torque but you will also waste a lot more gas. If you don't always keep it in D and decide to mess around shifting gears be prepared to watch your gas needle drop before your eyes.

The automatic transmission computer is programmed to give more torque when you press the gas pedal further. That way when you are coasting you save gas. If you keep your revs high all the time your putting more power to the wheels for no reason which is wasting gas... especially if you have a lift.

It's fun to do when you have an intake and exhaust done. Then you could make more noise without hard accelerating.

Racing will heat up the ATF and cause it to degrade, then you simply change the ATF fluid more often.

I don't think manual upshifts will give you better times in a drag. The computer will hold the gear and use a higher shift point (closer to redline) anyway if it detects aggressive gas pedal usage.

Excessive shifting of an automatic transmission can cause overheating but in this scenario unlikely. I grew up driving standard transmissions and I downshift with my auto all the time it's a hard habit to break. My old man does it with his truck too.
