I have had my 09 Tacoma about 3 months now and from day 1 I have noticed that the downshifting on the auto trans. (5 speed) is terrible. When ever I slow down to take a turn and then start to make that turn the trans. abruptly shifts to a very low gear as soon as I press on the accelerator causing the rpms to jump way up.

Has anyone slse seen this or is it a lone problem to my truck?

It's by-design so the engine is in the power band when you need to accelerate. Very useful if you drive hard or take your truck offroad.

    Welcome to TW, btw.

    Thanks for the welcome.

This downshift seems to drop way down. One time when I was making a turn in the rain the truck actually downshifted so much that the rpms went up to about 2,000 and I almost spun-out.

Is there a way to adjust the trans?

2000 rpms isn't high. It's about the bottom of the power band.

Easiest way to adjust the transmission is to drive a manual. ;)

    None yet...
Mine does the same thing, and so far I have not gotten adjusted to it yet. You could always just put more 'boot' into it all the time, and then it will seem normal ? :D (though this may not help your gas mileage)
