Aux 1 Aux 2 Aux 3 Buttons and other questions

Hey All,

I just took delivery of a 2024 Tacoma TRD off Road Monday night. Traded in my 5th Gen 4runner and I couldn't be happier. I do have a couple questions; I got the pigtails for Aux 1 Aux 2 and aux 3 Buttons but have no idea where the other end of the wire is. I assume these are for lights or other accessories. Also, looking to put a decked System in the bed, and a hard folding tonneau top on the top of the bed. Finally, anyone have a suggestion for a decent Dashcam that can plug into the harness I am reading about that is above the rear view mirror?

There have been a few threads so use the search function. Dongar has an adapter that most use. I like my OEM camera but those other threads mention several more.

 

All of this had been discussed tons. For the dashcam, get the Dongar adapter. Easy install with the camera of your choice. For the AUX switches, you need to figure out what you want to use them for. We can't do that for you. AUX1 is 15A, AUX2 is 10A, and AUX3 is 5A. Keep that in mind when you wire them up. You might need to use the switch to trigger a relay (I did on AUX3).

For my AUX switches I took the pigtail and connected a Weatherpack 4-pin connector. AUX1 goes to my bumper lights, AUX2 the rock lights in my sliders, and AUX3 to a relay for future. How you choose to do this is up to you.

 

Dash cam choice depends on what you want it to do. There's plenty of basic inexpensive dashcams. Others do things like a true parking mode with time-lapse recordings switching to real-time in event g-shock sensor, etc.
