Either way is fine. Bypassing the stock cooler will keep the strawberry milkshake from happening. However, from everything I read it appears to be a 4runner issue. If you change your coolant regularly you shouldn't have any corrosion inside.

The zip ties are ok if you don't wheel but they'll break eventually.

Idk when this coolant was changed last. It's still green though. And my fluid looks good, confirmed by a trans shop. So it's not toast

How hard are these to install? I can do it, I'm just more worried about trying to disassemble the from of the truck

It would be a good ideal to leave the rad. cooler in place. With no air flow in traffic and no water cooling you are running a risk of high trans temp.

If you can turn a screwdriver and squeeze some pliers , it's very easy. It took me longer to figure out I was going to install it.

Remove the skid plate and look for the two hoses that go to the radiator. Then follow my diagram on how to plumb the hoses.

I'm just more worried about bolting it to the front

gear shift knob and other things.
I will be adding a transmission cooler and additional electric fan for the Rad begining to feel the warming.

Anyone have any experience using a remote mount setup like this?
I was thinking this may be a good option to keep optimal airflow to the engine and A/C condenser as well as keeping residual heat from the engine away from the trans cooler. I was thinking I could wire it with a thermostatic switch as well as an override to keep it on in demanding situations. Was thinking somewhere in a cavity under the truck away from rock/road debris. I rarely go off road, so I'm not to concerned of the hazards.
I mostly tow a 4,000 lb dry weight travel trailer in the summer in Florida and the Georgia mountains.
Maybe I'm simply overthinking it and just need to follow suit with what most of you guys are doing!
    Thanks for your input!
