This is why I paint my own things, fuck powder coat, I want to be able to touch up more than anything. And we ship a lot of freight at work. If you care about something you don't openly strap it to a pallet, things still get damaged by idiots but something nice open face on a pallet is asking for it. Ever seen an appliance or something from a big company that wasn't fully boxed, there is a reason for that

Talk to the fam, see what is needed and then we can start a new thread for Mayer Donations.

    -water drop off location
-paypal address to donate money for supplies
-Maybe an address to ship stuff to.

Let's show that TW love for a place that we all love to drive through while out wheeling.

I am reaching out to my wife's cousin, who is the Fire Chief for Mayer to see what they need and see if he could help facilitate passing out donations to those most in need. The Fire Dept would be a great partner/resource in this.

Exactly, if you want something to arrive with the highest probability of being in the same the condition it left you fully crate it. We ship $10k grills all over the country everyday, they are always fully crated and shrink wrapped and we still have issues from time to time. I don't care how much padding you wrap an open crated and strapped product in and neither does the dipshit running the fork at the loading dock. He will find a way to damage it.

Lol exactly, watching a loading dock makes you cringe, someone's stuff just got crunched and nobody cares

Well obviously you're a little fussier than me. Personally, it would depend on the product that showed up scratched and used. If it was parlor furniture, or something I was giving as a gift, sure, that would be different. Or if it's missing parts that I need, yeah, they need to make that right. But if it's something that's scratched up that's going to get scratched up in normal use anyway, who cares? All you're going to do is stress yourself out, stress out other people, waste time, and waste money for no good reason. I would just look it over, cuss a little, if it really bugs me hit it with a little black paint, and move on.

I ordered a computer from Dell back in 2001. When it showed up, the box had a big ding in the side and inside the case was dented. Pulled it out and booted it up, it worked fine. So I kept it. Sure, I could have made a big stink with UPS and Dell and packed it up and sent it back and demanded they send me a perfect one. Then I would have had to wait another two weeks (or more) to get my computer. Instead I just kept that one, it ran just fine under my desk for four years. Guess how many times I thought about it having a dent in the case?

If I want scratch and dent product, I will order scratch and dent product and pay scratch and dent pricing. Powder coat probably cost that dude $200, he shouldn't have to "hit it with a little black paint and move on", he should be able to put the first dings dents and scratches in it himself. It's a $2500 piece of equipment that he has to look at every day on a $30k+ truck, a little different than some $600 tower under your desk but either way product should show up in the advertised condition regardless of what it's cost or function is. He has every right to be pissed, but it's the shippers issue not pelfreys.

talked to my grandparents finally.. they have obviously been busy. The house is ok, the property not so much. They are talking to insurance. 6-8 inches of mud and soot cover everything. the garage and shed are ok, minus some leaking in from the garage doors. They were told by Mayer Fire that that flood came in 2 waves. The first was 4ft, the second was 8ft. Water was rushing at 60mph and 100ft wide. The creek itself is only about 20-30 feet wide. Mayer Fire is preparing for more floods, as this will be a constant event for who knows how long.. until vegetation grows back. Sand bags wouldnt have helped the situation since it was so violent. sand bags in the future may help, but doubtful. The soot and silt has buried so much that future floods will be even worse. They even cleaned out the silt from the bridge weeks prior in attempt to stop this.. and it didnt help one bit. flood waters went over the bridge closing it down. Well water residents need to boil water. luckily my grandparents are on town water. they are heading out of town this weekend for prior engagements and said there is much they anyone can do until it dries out some more, plus.. with the very real threat of more floods to come.. they dont even want to bother right now. Shelter is set up at the High School.

I'm going to go up when they get back, probably next weekend, and try and help clean up. This weekend would be to provide supplies. I'll keep everyone updated.

This is what I was more getting at. Was the bad mouthing pelfreybilt for the damage. Freight companies are terrible and couldn't give 2 sh*ts about what they are loading and delivering. Yes the bumper probably could've been crated better, but the customer doesn't give that information out. It very well could've been packaged fine and a fork lift driver could've thrown a fork through the whole thing causing damage.

Basically if it were me in that situation I would contact the company and the shipping company to try to get it resolved. Not complain on social media. You can always refuse a package if it looks damaged when they deliver it. Dealing with this exact issue this week with Home Depot. Ordered a security door and it showed up with the box torn and clearly dented. We refused to take it and they are getting us a new one. Home Depot will have to deal with the freight company to resolve it and I still get a new door.

High dollar items like that bumper or my long travel kit are insured through the shipping company for this reason. He could have refused the bumper and had pelfreybilt send him a new one. Then pelfreybilt deal with the shipper to cover their cost of having it repainted for another customer.
