Is there anyone around Phoenix or Tucson that can do the OV tune?

There is a thread here about someone coming from Cali to do it for a bunch of peeps, that's if you don't want to buy the kit to do it yourself (which is pretty easy) I'll find it and tag you

Thanks! I’d love to do it myself, but it would have to be pretty idiot proof, computers are definitely not one of my strong points

So you have the tune. Where would someone go to get one?

Reverse on the MT is garbage, but the other ratios are great. The clutch is meh, but you can do the accumulator delete mod.

I'll tag you on the thread for the guy from cali coming to do it. I bought the kit (before the VF tuner version) where you tune it yourself, it's pretty easy. Note Matt the guy from OVTune has changed how he does things so many times it's hard to keep track, so some of this information may have already been outdated.

Pros on buying kit yourself: you can custom tune and or change tunes to your hearts desire
Cons: cost is like $700 bucks (not sure how much now), have to follow fairly simple instructions

Pros on having someone do it for you (with new VF tuner software): pay whatever they are charging you as a one time thing, nothing else to do on your end
Cons: not able to change tune without paying again (I think most of these guys charge ~$250 per flash, basically these guys bought a license that allows them to tune unlimited ECUs and are using it to make money by providing the service)

If you're seriously considering it, I recommend reading at least the first post in the development thread (Warning: the thread quickly becomes a total shit show) so you get an idea of how it works.

Full disclosure: I am not affiliated with either @OVTune or anyone providing the tuning service. Truth be told I am 80% happy with the tune, definitely made a difference especially with my 33s and the shifting, but what annoys me to no end is that it took YEARS to get to the current version of the tune provided by @OVTune . The current official tune doesn't allow for the ECT button to switch to a more aggressive tune map, god only knows when that will be done, I am not holding my breath and because of this annoyance I refuse to give @OVTune any more of my money. (In order to move to the VF tuner version (Latest version) you have to pay more $) But I believe it allows people to make their own tweaks and also share the tunes with other people. (there is also a thread on this which I have not bothered to look into)

Ive had this 2nd gen since 2015 and never had these issues. I push a button, it works. I give it gas, it goes.
The only real issue ive had is with the stereo and i needed to reset the learning on the transmission and ecu after gearing to 4:88s.

    So....

    This must mean........

    2nd gen = best gen

Everyone on here knows me well enough that they know I love to over complicate everything. I’d get another accumulator and modify it.;) Actually I think other people do that, it’s just a matter of milling a channel between the inlet and outlet such that all the fluid bypasses.

You know, the T4R looks so damn good and it’s basically a rear spring axle 2nd gen underneath that it’s super super tempting... but no manual!

Ah!! Living the MPG life. I don't drive anywhere so I don't have to worry about that. Haven't put gas in the truck for like 2 months. Probably need stabil in it.:rofl:
