I think it's too much. I bought my 12" sub for $60, wiring kit for $25, and built my own box and installed it. Worth it? ...I think so. :)

OK so WTF are all these photo enforcement "traffic violations" I received in the mail from the friendly Scottsdale police?? I got 3 of them in the mail from when I was in AZ 2 weeks ago.

Uh, we have speed and red light cameras in AZ... so you probably broke the law. Occasionally they do screw up, but since you got three I'd venture it's probably legit. Try to abide by the law next time?

Thanks for pointing out what is obvious.

This sucks! I heard they are not actually tickets, as they want you to mail them back to "validate" them. Plus they say don't send it to the court, send it to the PD. Anyone (besides Kyouto) feel like chiming in?

Hey, don't get snippy at me because you broke the law in our state... You asked what they were about, I told you straight up what they're for. The company that sends them out for the speed is Reddit, which is a contracted company with the state. They are real tickets, however due to how the law is written many people can/have got off by not sending in acknowledgement. However when/if an officer serves you at your house (since you're not a state resident the chances of this happening are pretty much zilch) then you can pretty much get away with it. However you're taking a risk that someone will eventually serve you, and you can get hit with it again should you pass through AZ and get pulled over. It's a risk to avoid it though a slight one at that. This is only for the freeway and DPS marked radar vans.

The red light and surface street speed cameras are controlled by the city (may or may not be contracted through reddit), and typically there is no getting out of those. As for Scottsdale itself, I'd have to look it up. To my knowledge though, the 101 cameras have been disabled for well over a year... but there are surface street ones that are still in surface. Also it's worth to note a lot of the red light cameras are also speed cameras.

In short, being an out of state resident you're probably ok... but again you take that risk when/if you cross back into the state. Goes for any state though. It also depends what the violation was for too on how aggressive they may pursue it.

Thanks for the help, that was exactly what I was looking for :) I am hoping they don't come serve me ugh. My fiance was driving in 2 of the photo tickets, so at least I don't get all 3 if they do, haha.

That also helps if you do get served though... you can just say you do not know who was in possession of the vehicle for the two tickets (as long as they don't see her lol). They have to prove it was you driving to fine you, however it'd have to be contested in court. There's also the "your vehicle, your responsibility" bit too that some judges may not be so sympathetic with.

Fighting tickets in this state is pretty much daily life for some... I've had my fair share but I own up to them because.. honestly I was speeding (and never caught for far worse lol). I also got a parking ticket in Huntington Beach... didn't realize it was a pay for site and the sign was about 50' in the air, my buddy didn't catch it either. $50 for 20min... I still paid it up because ignorance wasn't an excuse as retarded of a fine trap it is, nor could I come back two weeks later to contest it being from Phoenix...
