    I'm looking into putting a Transmission cooler on my truck (sr5, no tow package). I want this more for off-road rather than towing. This is why I want it to have a fan.
    Assuming the sizes are the same:
    Is the price difference between the Derale/B&M/other really worth it?
    Is plate and fin really that much better than tube and fin?

    Turbo with supporting mods and tranny to hold power.
    Plate and fin > tube and fin
    Fan > no fan

    If you want for low/no speed cooling and off road plate fin fan and thermo switch is way to go.

    That is a huge cooler. My oil cooler is that large. That cooler has -10AN fittings. You would need to adapt down to a smaller fitting. I believe the trans ports on the radiator are 3/8" which is -6AN.

    I'm currently pulling hills in an unloaded truck at 210-240* no factory towing package, so i have to do something. I would like something of really good quality that can handle mud and abuse.

    I am running one of these on both my trucks my 4runner would run hot as hell at times but since adding this I have had to ad an external thermostat for cooler weather. Fluidyne makes some great stuff have used them in the past on a few high HP car builds and have always been impressed... Factory Tacoma cooler in front for reference.
