    Hey guys,

I have been searching the forums for an awnser but couldnt find anything. Anyways im looking to purchase rims with these specs:

    17 x 9
    6 on 5.5 bolt pattern
    Offset -19
    Back space: 4.25

    Going to run 275/70/17

Just want to know what are the offset and back space requirements to clear the upper control arms? (I do have a 2 inch spacer lift coming for the front)

Yes lol I just realized the offset. I edited my post to the correct rims I was looking at which have a -19 offset

I had these ordered and delivered to my house, mounted, balanced, the whole nine yards only to find out they didn’t clear the caliper. My offset was -12 though.

So they did not clear the calipers because of wrong offset or the back space?

Honestly, I guess I don’t know enough to give you an answer to that part.

I do know that when I spoke to the sales woman over the phone (I forget if it was discount tire or 4wd parts) they told me while they are mostly designed for jeeps, they will fit my vehicle.

They were wrong and it was a hassle. So, just saying make sure you do a little more research so the same doesn’t happen to you. If budgets not an issue I’d say spring for some Methods as they’re designed for Tacoma’s.

    Good luck!

It seems like that should be GTG. Here is what the factory wheels are at....

The offset isn't necessarily the issue with not clearing the caliper. The way these steel wheels are made, the mounting face is very thin and shallow, unlike the thicker mounting face of alloy wheels. So the inside of where the wheel mounts is way closer to the hub and won't sit flush on the hub unless spaced out. This, mixed with the deep dish concave shape of the wheel causes the inside to contact the caliper.

I run the 16x8 D window steelies on my 3rd gen. If you want to run these types of wheels you need to order a smaller offset and add a spacer. There is no other way for the inside of the wheel to clear the caliper.

For reference: I run Vision D window wheels with 4in backspacing (-12 offset per Summit) and a 1.25 Spidertrax spacer. It looks very aggressive and just barely tucks on full compression in the rear.

That still shouldn't matter. On these steel wheels its how the mounting face is constructed.

Were your wheels 17x9 -12 as well? I would think they would fit.

It's hard finding the correct info out there on pro comp steel wheel fitment. The little info I found, steel wheels won't clear the caliper. Even the procomp alloys I have installed there wasn't good info. My alloys barely clear the caliper.

I tried to put my other trucks wheels on that you have and they did not clear the caliper, however those wheels were 15x8 3.75 BS. To me 16's or 17's would have cleared.. I do have 17x9 -12 Moto Metal wheels (aluminum) and those clear. On a side note: The Pro Comp's were not hub centric and I would go with a wheel that is Hub Centric. $.02

I guess everyone is just going to ignore what I said earlier....

Steel wheels have a different/thinner mounting face than alloys. No these will NOT clear the calipers without spacers, regardless of the offset. The steel wheels fit a lot of other vehicles just fine, but its a different story on Toyotas.
