What is the rim width and backspacing on the 17 inch TRD Sports stock rim. I am loooking at getting new wheels and was needing to know the backspacing I would need to run 265/70 17s.

A 4.5" back spaced wheel is what is recomended for 285 wide tires. Factory is 5.5" :)
FWIW, on the back side of the wheel, it will have its size listed. On one of the "Spokes" of the wheel.

LOL, well, I KNOW the BS is 5.5", at least thats what is listed in the books. My stock wheels wouldnt fit a 285 tire without hitting the UCA, so I went with a 4.5" and all is fine.

Nope. I went with 18x9's I was told the 285's would hit the UCA's and after I measured, it was confirmed. AND the 285's are recomended to be run with a wider wheel.

according to this a 5.5 backspace on a 7.5" rim would be about a 30.5 offset. maybe thats what the last 2 #s rep. oh yea and GO RAYS 2-2 rain delay

Thanks for all the help! So if I go with 265/70 17s I will need 4.5 backspacing. Would 17x8 or 17x9 inch rims be better? Also the guy from 4 Wheel parts told me that with putting the Bilstein 5100's on jacked up to the 2.5 inch setting this would bring the tires closer to the control arm. Is this true?

not sure about the 5100's, but a 3" spacer lift thats on top of the assembly sure will. for only a 265 tire, i'd go w/ the 17x8. they put the 265 on a 17x7.5 stocker.
