after going through this thread and other connecting threads, i gotta admit im gonna follow suit; little bit unorthodox but i can appreciate it. im thinking of going with either rigid dseries or radiance strictly cause it fills up the open area a little better. if i go with radiance im gonna go with the red backlit iteration. with either option i was thinking of running it to a switch so i could turn it on whenever. thing that got me hinged right now is thats a lot of harness running to the front lol.

I have the same plans with mine, eventually. Someone mentioned using a diode in the circuit to prevent back feeding the stock wiring.

The Rigid perfectly fits without cutting into metal or painted plastic. That was a big goal for me.

@vicali 's light on the last page is really nice though.

Hella fused relay - auto ON with reverse selected. Tapped power from the Battery "Charger" circuit. (IGN ON)

Or - Cab SPDT switch (ON-OFF-ON) with Reverse tap ON - OFF - Fused IGN source ON.

Another way for those wanting ON with reverse/OFF/ON with IGN ON.

thanks for the wiring info. still debating on what route i want for the light. i checked the back of the area i was gonna use to make sure it was clear and clear of wires and noticed that theres metal bracing in that area. did this change in my19? i only ask cause when i see others progress during their install it looks like its only plastic based on the tools that are being used. if anything i could just use my multitool to cut into the metal and carry on as i think its just a support for the license plate (not too sure gotta check again) but i was just wondering for those who underwent this project, was it just plastic or was there a metal backing theres well. thanks in advance.

Sorry! I just saw this. TW thread update notifications don't work well.

I got the Rigid flush mount because it perfectly fits the open area in the metal backing on the right side. I didn't want to cut into metal either.

Also, the unpainted vertical spots on either side of the step have a lot of clearence behind them if you position the light(s) just so.

In the end, the spot to the right of the license plate has worked great for me, even through the winter.
