Flyfish is thinking you mean bullshitting, but you meant backspacing. The more your tires stick out, the more your tires are going to rub.

I guess that's where I'm getting confused. What's the point of the negative offset if the tires rub I thought that's suppose to help with the rubbing. But I'm also adding another 1-1/12" lift to the front of my truck. Is a little rubbing really that bad?

One reason why low(er) backspacing is good because when you go to a 285 or larger it keeps your tires from rubbing the upper control arm. And if you do any off-roading you are going to rub more than you do while normal driving. I wouldn't want to damage my tires from rubbing.

I already have 285/75r16 tires and they barely rub at all only when I cut the wheel all the way. If I lift the front some more you don't think I could go with a lower backspacing? I want to go with A true 33x12.50r18 tire. What would you recommend I do to be able to fit that size tire?

Well its kind of a dilemma because if you lift more you run the risk of needing aftermarket UCAs because you won't get good alignments, and can also cause problems for your cv axle and create vibrations. But I would sacrifice a little less poke to have a better chance of clearing the tires. Wont get you the 3 inches from your fender but will still look aggressive and won't rub as much. Seems like the standard on this site is about 4-4.5 Backspacing

Dont get me wrong.. i use my 4x4, i just dont drive fast when offroading. As long as you are moving forward you are good. I also dont "mud bog" in my truck. Ive spent many hours washing mud out from under my truck and i got over that real quick!

I rubbed on the front mud flaps in reverse at full left lock. So I ditched them and solved that issue
