Hey everyone, got some rims a while back (Ion Alloy 17x9) (great price from a 2ng gen owner) and currently have some discoverer AT3s 265/65/17 on them.

my problem is the backspacing on the rims is 5” with 0mm offset so The fronts will not clear the calipers. I have some 1/4” spacers on the way and hope that it will be enough.

anyone have this issue/what’s the highest backspacing before rub? Will I need to have larger spacers?

    thanks!

I could be wrong on this so maybe someone else chime in, but I don't think backspacing really plays a role in caliper clearance. Backspacing is simply the distance between the inside edge of the wheel and the mounting surface of the wheel. It sounds to me like the profile of the spokes on that particular wheel just don't clear Tacoma calipers for whatever reason.

Yeah I actually kept digging and that seems to be a likely reason- everything comes in on Monday so I’ll update the thread with the results. Thanks for the reply
