Hi Guys. I've been lurking for a while and searching various threads but can't find the specifics I am looking for. Hope you can help me out.

2009 Tacoma w/ factory backup camera to the rear view mirror.

Here is what I want to do:

Install a new multimedia receiver (Sony XAV-AX5000). Something clean and basic is all I need for this truck. I'd like to wire the existing backup camera to this new receiver. So that is my first question. Do I disconnect it completely from the mirror and somehow run an RCA to the receiver? I am sure there is a thread on this, I just have not been able to find it.

I also bought a Garmin mini 2 dashcam that I would like to hook up while I do the receiver install. I read about the adapter from Dongar but the 2nd gen ones seem to be all out of stock. I was hoping that I could take advantage of having the receiver area opened up to wire the power for the dashcam as well. Do I run power down to the receiver area or since I am no longer going to be using the screen in the mirror can I highjack the power running to the mirror? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

I'd just run the new cam to the license plate and you'll have another view. Plus you won't need to hack your OEM cam wiring. That's the way I have been running mine for 10 years with a JVC and now Pioneer NEX head unit. I also left excess cam cable behind the plate and have alternate mounts for my bike rack.
