Has anyone had any experience with the Harbor Freight BandLands winches? I'm looking at getting a 9000 lbs winch for my truck in order to prevent the situation below.

I wouldn't be using it all that often and I was going to attach it to a hitch mount.

I have a receiver mounted 12000lb badlands that I’ve used to pull my 2500 dodge out of the yard(it’s 2wd).. I’d go for it just watch for a coupon.

They just released the badlands apex, a 12k pound with synthetic rope. Looks good, but I haven't used it myself.

Just recently installed the 12k peasent model haven’t used it yet. But it seems to be a solid unit and dang near carbon copy of the old school warns.

Really like the apex from harbor freight just from reading about it, it's ratings, and performance. I would like to wait a bit to make sure all the kinks are worked out as well.

I'm kind of hoping that they release a Apex 9k winch in the future since the 12k is a bit of overkill for most setups.

If you do go with 1 I’d definitely recommend the wireless remote.. it’s fairly handy but does have a small delay so you have to let go of the button a little early.

Thanks for the input guys. It seems everyone (including a friend of mine) like theirs. I'm glad. The price of a warn is just too high for the value of the tool imho.

The only way I’d consider a warn would be if I was using it all the time doing some hardcore wheeling or something

The Badlands Apex looks interesting, but a 12k winch is overkill for our trucks.
I have an engo 9k winch and it works wonderfully. Good price point and I trust it more than harbor freight :notsure:

Only reason I went 12k was I use it with my 2500 dodge and my car hauler as well with Anderson connectors on the bumpers to keep everything plug and play.. otherwise I woulda went 9k

I know a couple of farmer friends who have the Harbor Freight winches. They seem happy with them.

I just went in there to check out prices and they have the 12k Badland winch on sale for $289 (with 20% coupon brought it to 217!) And I got the 2 year warranty.
They manager said they have never had one returned. The 12k winch was cheaper than the 9k lb winch! Get 'em while they're hot!!!:mudding:

They had a tag on all the 12k winches for the next three days on sale. I'm assuming they are going to try to clear stock to make way for the Apex 12k winches. It blew my mind! I wasn't planning on picking one up, just pricing it. But I didn't want to lose out.

The 20% off coupon wouldn't go through at the register, but I told them it worked on their website, bud I just wanted to come in store to pick it up (so I could buy the 2 year warranty to go with it). They approved the discount and I walked out the door a happy man!

I'm assuming they let the 20% coupon slide because the mgr was a toyota guy too and we shot the bowl for 15 minutes before making the sale. ;)

The 20% won’t work for me online because it says it can’t be used with any other discountswhich is what brings it don’t to $289

Normally the coupons have printed on them, in that tiny little print, that they aren't good on winches, welders, tool boxes, etc- you know, the stuff we actually want. :annoyed:

That’s what I looked for before even considering the purchase. Neither “Badland”, or “winch” was referred to.
As soon as I was able to get the coupon to qualify online, I just went into the store to purchase to get the warranty. Maybe I was just lucky :)
