Great the book got there... a few days later than the post office guessed! I hope you enjoy the story it tells, from the discovery of California to the first explorations to the Spanish colonization, using missions and the road network, called El Camino Real.
Thanks for the offer of a co-vehicle! I will always help you with trip planning even if I cannot come along!

Those are some BIG rocks in your photo!!

In case anyone here did not see the post, I went to Mission Santa María, in a TW friend's Tacoma... His name is also 'TW' or Tom. This was just over a month ago, and I made this photo-filled web page for our 4-day adventure: https://vivabaja.com/msm2022/ [IMG]

Just so beautiful, Jim! One of these days, I will figure out how to take good photos or get a program that makes them good for me! LOL

Hi @David K , Girlfriend and I are planning a trip down to Baja from here in NV. I have a few general questions about travel down there and I figured I would check if Tacoma world has a designated thread for Baja travel, this is the one that came up first. You clearly seem very knowledgeable so we would love your input. Would you mind answering a few questions? If so would you rather I PM you to keep this thread uncluttered? Thanks!

Hello and thanks for reaching out... as a travel writer, I am very happy to assist!
Yes, we can use my email for details... but in general (and for all others reading this), I have a website FULL of travel ideas and aids, plus history as Baja is the original California and the historic sites are a big attraction (along with the incredible beaches, off road drives, great food, and friendly locals). Go to www.vivabaja.com and begin exploring my pages, photos, and links. Email me at: info @ vivabaja.com (no spaces) when you have specific questions (or even general ones)... I also have two Facebook Groups, one for historic sites and one for my website chat, Baja camping and exploring and more!

I'm sure I can find it on your website, but do you know the coordinates of this beach? I'm just starting my research of Baja and placing pins on maps. Also, thanks for sharing!

Great... well that would be Playa Ligüí (Km. 84)... A Spanish mission (California's third) was just 1/2 mile from that beach from 1705-1721. Flash floods washed away it's foundations in 2001 and some years later, a memorial for it placed a few hundred feet away, was also washed away. Bad location! The first beach photo is at Bahía Chenque, next to Juncalito (Km. 97).
Km. markers are handy ways to find places off the highways in Baja. I have a full kilometer list on VivaBaja.com.
See my trip photo album with location details for this part of Baja: https://vivabaja.com/p217/
Or, my Trip Report posted here on Tacoma World: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...baja-california-san-ignacio-to-loreto.474872/

Here's what that beach looks like at Ligüí - our traditional rest stop when driving the length of the peninsula.

This does look like the perfect stop. Do you guys generally carry extra fuel when going to these off the beaten path beaches?
