Need some outside opinions y'all. I'm looking at scooping up some new LCAs while I'm dealing with seized cam bolts, and it got me thinking: What's the thoughts on the+2 Kit from Baja Kits through Filthy motorsports?

I like it because as far as the kit literature shows, it looks like I can re-use my OEM King kit, which would save me the coin and hassle of having to pick up new C/Os and sell my old ones at a loss despite being 3 months old.

I guess the potential downside I see is that if you want to go LT, go FULL LT, and this seems like a little bit of a "make it work" kit. Maybe that's just in my uninformed eyes, since as I see it, Baja Kits / Brenthel Ind. wouldn't try to sell a poorly put together kit.

    A thing or two...
I haven't put to many miles on my kit since I had it installed, but I don't have any complaints. The only part of the kit that I didn't like was the brake lines because they are universal lines with adapters. I ordered lines of the same length on here instead of using the lines that were provided.

Since the OEM Kings can be used with the kit, you could run them while you save up for the specific setup that will give you a bit more travel.

True. Thanks for the chat yesterday about the kit. Really appreciate being able to sound it out.

I think dirt kings 3.5 kit will allow stock replacement coilovers

I'm sorry but that's so half assed. If you want LT go get the right shocks!!!
    Or stay stock

Hence my question. Although it would help if you could stop gap it on the way to full LT.

Obviously LT coilovers will perform better, but I don't think that kings and LT arms is half assed

I would definitely say get the 3.5 over the 2". You'll need fiberglass but its worth it

    Sometimes you can't have everything.
I'm not familiar with this particular kit but sounds like your shocks will act as limit straps if they even fit

Shocks like that have limiting protection in them. They're the limit strap on a stock setup as well.

I've loved my Baja Kits +2 kit and I've put quite a few miles on it. Try hitting up @BPaulin_ before ordering through Filthy, since he actually works there

    No, the ball joints are.

And please show me what limiting protection you're talking about

Kings have an internal bump stop, but to compare it to a proper limit strap would be unfair.

shocks have internal spacers to limit the droop of the shock. you can have a 16" shock with an internal spacer to make it a 14" or 12" shock.
If your OEM coilovers are ext travel you'll be fine. if they aren't all you have to do is open them up, remove the .5-1.0" spacer and that will make them ext. travel.

I tested the oem Kings with the +2 kit on my truck. I ran it like that for about 15k miles. zero issues, the truck handled well and I added limit straps to avoid putting too much stress on uniballs, bushings and misaligns.

If you’re ok with opening a whole new can of worms, like fiberglass, rear LT, Frame bracing, and driving characteristics that are not ideal for daily road use, then I’d go 3.5+ LT.

But if you want to stay spring over (in any form) for the rear, not deal with fiberglass, or save some $, I’d go with the Baja Kits.
I heavily considered them before I got my kit.

I went 3.5”, but I also am 2wd and going fast is my only goal. I daily it, and am ok with the nuances, but I do recognize the compromises from a stock truck.
I voted for the Baja Kits...

What driving characteristics does a +3.5 kit exhibit that a +2 does not?

Part of the reason I wanted to stick with +2 was I like to mob in the desert, but I've also got the whole "overland" style going on. Not sure how conducive Tepui tents, etc are to the LT life. Wouldn't mind some extra capability, but not looking to build a full LT prerunner. Like I was talking with @buyobuyo , I'd find a rear end totalled taco or tundra and go full retard LT on that. I might do wider front fenders, only because one of mine is tweaked from a prior accident (Semi backed into me). The GFC truck has been my inspiration lately.
