If you really didn't want things to snowball with your truck you'd forget this section of the forum ever existed. To be safe then you would live off grid in a deeply remote region of an unpopulated God forsaken wasteland where TW's long arm can't reach you and beat you down with Black Friday sales, what ifs, group buys, and opinionated people deciding on how you should spend your money. It's just gaining momentum and you're headed down a steep hill that ends at a cliff of poor resale.

Other than that, lots of reasonable and positive comments in here - doesn't strike me as a typical lt thread.

I owned my '02 1st gen until 2016 and have similar plans for this one. But I do appreciate the words of advice. I found this site when I first got my prerunner 1st gen back in 2009, and so I feel like there's no avoiding TW at this point.

By “adjustment” are you referring to the non extended coilover spacers?
And is the 11” of travel listed for 8” shocks? If so any idea what a person would be looking at with oem length coilovers and this kit?

Hey guys, All great info. Question about the baja kits long travel set up, when ordering from their website why do you have to select a coilover option from Baja kits directly? They wont let you add the kit to a cart without selecting it. I want to run these UCA's and LCA's on my truck but with Fox 2.5 IFP coilovers not any of the options set by baja kits website. Any input is appreciated thanks

Just call them up. I don't know for a fact but it seems reasonable to assume you can get fox's built to the same spec as the Kings - you want 8"co's or are you talking oem replacement co's?

Hey thanks a lot for the response and helpful info! I got in touch with JT from Baja Kits and got everything taken care of over Email. Apparently just a website glitch.

You’re saying any +2 would be pretty far lacking behind the dmz rear? Was thinking about doing archive sua for a bit but with all the fab work put into sua really dont want to limit it. And so i would’nt be keeping the mid travel front with that so was looking into this or tc +2.
I have an older gmc as a dedicated work truck so it’s weighed down with a bunch of tools and stress from the week try to keep the tacoma light and for trips. Worries about 3.5 “nuisances” on long distances or city driving but maybe 2” is about the same?

What are the +3.5 nuances on long distances or the city?

I have driven my +3.5 rig on long road trips and there is not an issue. Obviously if you park in a parking garage spots my be tighter but you probably shouldn't be looking to long travel your truck if that is a concern.

A correctly built long travel rig will handle better offroad and still behave on road. I have always been pro +3.5. it just makes more sense since it costs so much.

I just see that word used a lot. Someone’s just mentioned something about feeling like they were going to die when they hit a big puddle on the highway. I imagine they are speaking on body roll ect. Defiantly not worried about width on trails or tight parking spots. Ive just always wanted to properly do the rear and cant really visualize it without knowing ill be wanting to do the front after. I also imagine id be pretty damn ass high with mid travel and dmz on a 4x access cab without even speaking about performance. Just trying to figure it out in my head. Thanks for the reply

The big coilovers you install with lt and the added track width will more than compensate for not having a sway bar in terms of body roll. If you hit a puddle on the highway it's going to affect your traction regardless of what suspension you're running. What do you mean high? Price?

Trucks a 4x so not too high in front and tim at dmz was saying it would probably have a fair amount of rake with his stuff and mt front. Ive always wanted to properly redo the rear of my trucks with sua. I was happy with this truck and my first gen mid travel front. Not into a bunch of rake and i guess just also trying to make myself realize if i do the rear I’ll eventually do the front

You could pull a leaf to even out the ride height. +2 or +3.5 isn't going to really change your front ride height much depending on whichever way you go. Plenty of guys go with 4x4 lt with dmz. An inch or two of rake isn't really worth worrying about if you're really going to modify your truck to the extent of full lt. You'd presumably load up your rear with enough stuff to even it out eventually either with dual spares or overland paraphernalia :p j/k

Right on thanks for the info. For some reason ive also thought lt was like 1.5-2” higher in the front than mt

Are you calling +2 mt - it kind of is imo. You could just pull a leaf until you go lt up front. Still the performance gains you'd be getting from sua would outweigh any cosmetic preferences when it comes down to the overall improvement of your truck imo.

Yea for someone like myself id consider it lt. I know for others who go all out I understand why they don’t see it that way. Tim did say that was an option but he didn’t suggest it probably because it wasn’t designed that way. The cosmetic thing is lame i know lol ive got the $ pretty much just gotta pull the trigger ive hated every soa option ive had on this truck probably mostly shock related. Just felt like my first gen with stock leaves and doetch tech whatever shocks rode way better

Hey I just had a quick question, currently I have the 2.5 extended shock from king and I was wondering if the shock works with the dirt king +3.5 long travel kit? Kinda confused I saw that the baja kits +2 can use the ones I currently have if I am correct?

    Nope - you'll need a spec'd 8" 2.5 coilover.

I looked into the Baja kits 2+. Sweet kit. It was the one I was thinking of going with until I saw JD fabrications 2+ kit. Very impressed with this one. Still haven’t made a purchase, but when I finally do….it’ll be jd fab
