QFT. I hate to think what's left to go Tango Uniform after I get that rather lengthy list of issues addressed. It has been kinda rough going into second since I put the locker in. I suppose I'm going to lose a synchro in the trans next and then it's pretty much game over for sure.

 

Just keep driving it like me . My transmission has been real weird since I put my rear locker in too.

 

That was the plan. Unfortunately, she's decided she wants to be a lawn ornament instead, so she crapped a wheel bearing, one of the few things I won't defer for later and still keep driving her.

 

I feel you there. Wheels bearings are pretty important haha

Well, I have my wheel bearing and the seals are on the way. Just have to wait a little bit, probably after Thanksgiving, before I order my LCA bushings. Then it's just a matter of taking everything apart, having the machine shop press the new bearing and seals into the spindle, replacing the LCA bushings, and having it aligned. Easy peezy.

Just have to hope none of the eccentrics are frozen in the LCA bushings. That could get costly and . I'm hopeful though. When I had it aligned after the lift 2 years ago, the tech didn't say anything about any frozen eccentrics and I've already splooged them down with Acetone/ATF a week or so ago and I plan to do it again a day or so before attempting to remove them.

 

Got some new parts today. Got my Timkin carrier bearing and a set of Centric Stop-Tec braided stainless steel brake lines for my front brakes. The brake lines look like some really high quality parts and they came with all new hardware (banjo bolts, crush washers clips, and even plugs for the hard lines and calipers so you don't leak all your fluid out while installing them). Damn impressive considering they only cost about $36 at Rockauto.

I also replaced my lower ball joint-to-spindle bolts with a set of Dorman 10.9 class M10 x 1.25 x 35mm flange head bolts. The factory bolts and the new ones that came with the ball joint were dubiously short. They never failed, but I was never comfortable with the depth of engagement on the outboard bolts which were 8.8 class M10 x 1.25 x 30mm and had a lockwasher under the head to boot. I'm a lot more comfortable with these. I left the lockwashers out, but I always use locktite on these bolts anyway.

Still waiting on the new tie rod end to replace the one I bent at Hardrock back in December. I'm kinda chomping at the bit to get the OGT back on her wheels.

 

So...I mentioned before that the driver side of the rack in my steering rack was pretty sloppy. Thanks, once again, to TW, I was able to fix it.

I installed the new rack guide and the thing is like a German virgin now!

Glad your getting the OGT all fixed up. I know it sucks but better to find this stuff at home than on the trail.

 

I'm hoping this is why my brand new tie rod went Tango Uniform after one trip to Ocala. If not, I'm going to have a switch to something more expensive, lifetime warranty or not.

 

With the play in the rack guide it's a good possibility it caused to failure in the tie rod.
