Looking over the damage from my ball joint failure yesterday and noticed this crack. What can I do about it? Anyone have this happen?

Ripped mine completely off. Just hammered it back in place and welded back up. Not quiet perfect and if you have time do what Jason did.

I had a recall on my LBJ's. So I took it into the dealer and they were replaced. Did you have any sort of recall like that? Only difference in my truck and yours are they're a year apart.

Doesn't matter. They blow if you don't keep an eye on them.

I'm pretty sure it was an UPPER ball joint that failed here.

Yeah it sucks. Just thankful it happened on a straight section of the road.
Waiting to hear from my insurance before I start working on it. Not sure how insurance really works or if I should even go that route. Never filed a claim before.
I plan on replacing the uca's with some uniball arms and going mid travel.

If it was an upper ball joint, and it looks like it could have been, just make sure to do the upper and lower. Might as well do the other side while you're at it. And use OEM parts or they'll be failing again shortly. Unless you're doing the new UCA's.

My bad if you already knew this. Not trying to be captain obvious or anything.

I'm getting very impatient waiting for a reply from my insurance. I'm questioning whether it's the right route to go. My deductible is $1000 and I'm not 100% sure if they'll even cover this.

What are your guys' opinions? Should I just start working on it myself? I'm sure I can get it all done for less than $1000.

    alot still need done
I'd do it, cause by time the insurance egg heads pull there heads out of there rears you could have been done with it and driving. Total chaos uca's going for $750 and there's icons and allpro to my knowledge of uniball uca's. As of lower ball joints idk.

That means your truck probably had the LBJ's replaced already. Not for sure though. Mine were done awhile back.

i used the cheaper carquest brand inner tie rod and it only lasted 3 weeks. I complained and got them to upgrade to moog and cover part of the alignment. the moog is almost twice as beefy looking.

Finally got word from insurance. Three weeks later. Everything is covered! I'm pretty stoked. Even getting a new method wheel and km2.
