Battery advice

The battery in my 2015 failed at 9 months and was replaced under warranty. Northstar, Die Hard, Exide, Johnson Controls, etc etc. Batteries ,do and it seems, fail at the most inconvenient times. Ready and immediate replacement availability should always be considered when purchasing a replacement battery, not only where you live but also where you don't. Big box stores offer quality batteries and if you are a thousand miles from home, you can generally fine one. Nothing worse than having a battery failure, under warranty, only to find out the "highly recommended" batteryyou purchased on line or at "Harry's Service Center", is not readily available where you are, with a truck that won't start.

 

Yes, 27f if you have the Tow package. It should actually say right on top of the battery what group to replace it with. The trucks can also take a 24f but this is a smaller battery and I believe now is only for the 4cyl.

Hope you have good luck with the dealer. They might not do anything till the battery is absolutely dead.

Around here unless tow package both 4cyl and V6 come with a 24F. Have heard Canada is 27F for all. Do not know for sure.

 

Yes , Canadian trucks are all 27F

 

I believe the trucks sold in the prairies and back east do , yes

 

If we forgot to plug our vehicles in up in Alaska during the winter, they were not going to start in the AM, but our temps got really extreme in the interior where I was at -50/-60F.

 

-30C isn't uncommon

 

That was going to be my second choice (walmart brand) as long as it said Made by Johnson Controls on top of it. Would have been the same battery as the Duralast from my reading, but only if you could get the Johnson Control made one.

 

it has a great warranty and rated #1 by Consumer Reports and the price is right,best of all it works as good as a these so called super batteries at half the cost

Yep thats one of the places I learned about them. Interesting though they had two models for it a N and a S. I didn't know if that meant one was more geared for the Northern latitudes and the S was better or the Southern. I think the Duralast was usually in the middle of the two EverMaxx's. But yes they were much cheaper in the 80's and 90's USD as I recall.......

 

Walmart also takes returns without question so if you exchange the battery every 3 years youll never have to buy another one

 

HAHAHA......that would be so wrong but I might consider doing that. A few months before its time. Return it for a new one. That feels like stealing somehow.
